People want to end their lives sooner, let them. I don't feel bad for people like that. It's their choice.

If you're overweight you need to fix it on your own.

The government has no business in 90% of what it's already involved in. Absolutely not.

That's not exactly it. Our portion sizes are out of control. The food that is being mass produced is killing us slowly. The things they put in processed foods are unbelievable. Something NEEDS to be done.

Why is someone's lack of self control my problem?

That's not the govenment's responsibility. Although putting a heavy tax on junk food to discourage people from eating unhealthily while simultaneously increasing revenue for the government couldn't hurt.

They advise people of healthy diets and exercise habits. The information is out there, it falls on the individual. Why is personal responsibility a lost art in America?

It isn't the government's problem to handle. It's personal.

Eating extra and not exercising is a choice and that is what America is all about is choices. So if people want to be obese let them be because this is America! Land of the free! ????????????????

Obesity is a public health concern. Like pollution and traffic safety, it is the role of the government to enforce reasonable restrictions.

If the question starts with "should the government be doing more..." The answer is NO

They actually already did that, that's were the subsidized school lunch program came from.

Of course! We need the government to parent us. That's why the founding fathers created the government, right? (Sarcasm)

Food quality. Good nutrients, not just enough food to keep everyone alive.

The government is actively manipulating the sugar market, if they are worried about obesity why spend more money to solve a problem they spend so much money to create?

The government has no business in people's weight. But I can see it coming with Obamacare.
