At the request of his wife, an Iowa dentist fired a female assistant because she was "irresistible and a threat to his marriage." She sued, claiming discrimination. The Iowa Supreme Court ruled in favor of the dentist. Good call?

Bullcrap, fair employment should be based on performance on the job and not this guys woody. She was shafted without due process and criteria of employment. There need be always fair dismissal. Wake up.

LOL next thing you know people will have Obama telling employers who they aren't allowed to fire even if they're a bad worker.

Good call. His business.

Good decision. Hot chicks in the office are a major distraction.

There always is, but I tried to capture it fairly. She had worked for him 10 years. He replaced her with another woman on a staff of all women (part of his defense that it was not gender discrimination). They were texting outside of work, but she was not flirting. Wife worked there too.

Economic growth is not the standard by which all other things are measured. It should not be our first priority.

And how long will it be before employers start using that dumbass excuse to fire any woman they don't like? This is sexism, plain and simple. I doubt if the Iowa court had even one woman on it that this would have happened! Are women supposed to wear burquas now for fear of being found attractive?

Employers don't need to even give a reason why they fire you. That means they don't need a reason at all. So the dentist is in the clear.

You should be aloud to fire anyone for anything at your own private practice.
It's your business.

There has to be more to this story than the sum up of this question.

That's not a legitimate reason...

Employers should be able to hire and fire whoever they want for whatever reason they see fit. Affirmative action is a hindrance to economic growth.
