California has begun implementing a "cap and trade" environmental protection program, in which companies purchase credits for their greenhouse gas emissions. Good plan?
legalized bribing is strictly hyperbole. it's a program that exist in other developed countries.
It's all about jobs and our economy... So NO it's NOT a good idea.
RJ you are doing a great job calling people out on their ignorance keep up the good work
imanag, I too do not have a Ph.D. in climatology, but I am a scientist with a graduate degree in biology. I know enough about science to know the reasons to be concerned are valid, that Ph.D.s in physics and climatology are telling us we have a problem.
OMG! The jobs are just flying out of here!
except it's not true. Just because some idiot on TV told you that (and you believed it) doesn't make it reality.
Dancemom thanks for checking my English when you have nothing smarter to say
Excuse me?!?! I know what i'm talking about. i watch the history channel and fox therefore I can tell you that ancient aliens have come to earth to create the hippie socialist event called global warming.
Where'd you get your PH.D. in climatology from? Please, dazzle us all and enlighten us. Can we expect a webinar soon?
How do you reply to this being legalized bribing?
It doesn't hurt to be environmentally conscious. I really hope the US doesn't become an unlivable shit hole because there's pollution everywhere...
And that attitude is why no one gives a fuck what tree-huggers think. Because they'll rubber-stamp anything if it's labeled "Good for the environment".
Too big to fail - all those Democratic electoral votes need to be protected.
sweet! Because mass extinctions will work out great for everyone!
I'm glad we have a bunch of arm-chair TV Ph.D.s here in the complex field of climatology. That top-notch science education you have fully makes you qualified to claim that you understand what's actually going on.
CA is not "broke". Who has the largest GDP? Who has the most fortune 500 companies?
It's called a budget deficit. It's temporary. Stop parroting what TV pundits say and learn what reality actually is.
you either improve your business and update your technology (yes, there are jobs there) or you pay for your mess other ways.
this program is similar to that used in Canada. Oh, those Canadians are just hurting so bad. Leaving in droves.
It will be just like the smog pumps on cars. "oh, it's going to kill jobs!". Did it? No. So what happened? Other states started doing the same. Same with fuel mixtures and energy standards.
Dumb. Those cycles you mentioned happened over centuries, not a couple decades.
And how is the pollution problem working out for you in Texas?
RJ - glad you're finally here! After you read all the comments, I want to hear your point of view.
I am glad you moved out of CA.
yeah, except people keep on coming here and staying. And what are the 1st and 4th cities with job growth in the nation? Oh yeah, San Francisco and San Diego.
They're called facts. try using them sometime.
sure. any day now.
California must have an enormous cock, because they just keep fucking themselves. Californians, prepare for the Great Business Exodus. What a dumb-shit idea.
How many more business need to leave CA before someone says...."We're a bunch of progressive idiots without jobs?" Lol
Is anyone else glad they moved out of CA? I am!
Chemist2016 is so "smart" he used a double negative!
Here's a fact liberals do better with the economy then republicans live with it and move on
I think we now have bigger issues here than being stuck in the 90s. Especially with the new legislative democrat supermajority and Gavin Newsome potentially becoming our next governor.
In California they almost are. Their party affiliation is now below 30%. And I don't see it getting much better anytime soon.
These are not normal cycles and a close look at the numbers would tell you that. This is why it is not argued in the science community. It's only if u choose to believe it or not. But it does the facts
This was passed years ago and just now being implemented.
And with California's new democrat legislative supermajority (yes both the senate and assembly are now 2/3 democrat) this state is in for a world of hurt.
I'm by no means a doomsayer, but this state is potentially heading to a dark place.
This is exactly why the Republican party is doomed..
Just like acid rain was something we could not do nothing about right
I said yes because all those businesses that can't afford it will most likely come to Texas....
Thank god there's one other intelligent person out there. Thank you for not blaming humans.
Earth has gone through thousands of global warming & global cooling cycles in its long history. If we are in another warming cycle, better than being in another cooling cycle.
Los angles does everything to raise revenue - even parking tickets.
We also may be able to colonize some other body in space too. Don't sell Yankee Ingenuity short.
We can not stop or alter this process. We can predict to some degree what the results may be and make preparations. The smart people will survive and the stupid and ignorant will perish. The earth will support the resultant population.
Additionally, the earth is thermodynamically influenced by the sun's heat and probably to some degree by planets and stars. There may be other influences as well.
The earth's climate is changing and has been since it was formed and will continue to change as long as the it exist. The earth is a large heat machine operating on the laws of thermodynamics.
Ovcourse, actually read the manifesto, then you can realize how wrong u are. s
CA is desperate for income. How does taxing (yes, taxing) help the environment? There is a logical disconnect here. If they banned bad emissions from every company, now that would be something. Otherwise, it's just an excuse for generating revenue
Sigh. I'm do ashamed of my state. For a state that supposed to be forward thinking, they seem to be stuck in the 90's.
California is so broke, I see zero chance of these funds actually being used to improve the environment. This smells like a common revenue tactic to me, under the thin guise of saving the earth.
I support sustainable, clean industry, but I don't think this is the right way to do it.
