California has begun implementing a "cap and trade" environmental protection program, in which companies purchase credits for their greenhouse gas emissions. Good plan?

Yes great plan, the state is going bankrupt but let's make it much harder and more expensive to do business.
Then all of our major companies will begin moving out of state or country.
It will help allot

Everything California does is stupid no wonder they're broke.

Here is a state which is literally broke & losing jobs putting in place a policy that will have absolutely zero impact on global warming. This is further proof that liberals are actually not very bright.

Actually, it is good that CA is doing this.
After it fails the other 49 states will hopefully see how ridiculous it is and this stupid idea will finally die before the federal government won't force it down our throats.

Man-made climate change is a hoax. CO2 is an effect of rising temperatures. Solar activity is obviously the cause of climate change. This makes California's new policy a complete waste of time. Now businesses will be forced to move or close their doors. I'm glad I don't live their anymore.

When California drives its remaining companies & jobs to 3rd world nations, do you think those nations will produce more or less carbon per unit of production? Not only does this make California poorer, it generates more CO2.

I enjoy watching California's legislature work, what could be funnier? They can do what they want but when they ask the rest of us to bail them out, we have to stand back & let them go. They have created their own mess.

CA is desperate for income. How does taxing (yes, taxing) help the environment? There is a logical disconnect here. If they banned bad emissions from every company, now that would be something. Otherwise, it's just an excuse for generating revenue

Good for business, bad for environment. Big corporations can just buy a plethora a credits and emit whatever they want? Unless there's a limit to how many credits they can purchase then this isn't that great of an idea. Even then this is an idea that should be more thought through.

Things like evolution and ecology (climate change) are too difficult for some people to understand, so they go with something easier. like the creation myth that illiterate goat herders came up with 5,000 years ago or what some blow hard on talk radio tells you to believe.

It amazes me how conservatives ignore this problem. Climate change exist and needs to addressed. Cap and trade is a great way to do this.
Good for California. It addresses two problems there. New revenue and cutting down on carbon emission.

So far on this thread, California is communist, RJ is flawed as a person, science is fake, climate change isn't real, and the Catholic Church is an agent of social progress.

And people say we are lagging behind in intelligence and education.

Is there more CO2 accumulating in the atmosphere? Yes. It is measured all the time. Is it accumulating in the oceans? Yes. We measure pH all the time and it is acidifying. When you take compressed solids and liquids out of the ground and burn them, it doesn't magically go away.

I swear. You libs really do come up with some stupid ideas. "Hey, let's invent a tax, say it's a trade industry, start taking money from companies at a rapid rate, say its doing good for the environment, but really it's just lining our corrupt pockets and getting hard working Americans laid off."

As long as they are one of the business getting some of the 99 billion. I am sure they will be fine.
What about the rest? How much environmental protection will actually be achieved.
What's next. California bans cattle cars, coal natural gas kids

California is so broke, I see zero chance of these funds actually being used to improve the environment. This smells like a common revenue tactic to me, under the thin guise of saving the earth.

I support sustainable, clean industry, but I don't think this is the right way to do it.
