I don't pray, I wish for things (which is pretty much the same thing) I hope for good things for myself and others. I don't think god has anything to do with the outcome of an election, people make right or wrong decisions and we elect a president that's it. No god just people.

Does that possibility ever enter into your mind at all?

I would like an answer if I could have one. Do any of you think it's possible that you might have a neurological disease or disorder that makes you take such outlandish stories as facts to be held up to a standard so high you could kill or completely lose your mind over them?

Jesus was a liberal - why are not more Christians?

Or because god didn't want him to win. You're assumption is biased and may require an evaluation of your beliefs... Do you believe on god or do you want go to do what you believe.

Uhhhh...No. Even if I thought here was somebody or thing to pray to, or ever prayed at all in the first place, the Lutherans that raised me would have kittens if they found out I was praying for something so inappropriate as the outcome of an election or game. And they'd find out - they always do.

Did you people ever stop and think you might have a neurological disorder? Not saying bi-polar or schizophrenia but a mild to severe depression that causes this psychological need to obsess on a daddy figure who loves you and will help you live forever. But only if you worship him?

The effectiveness of prayers cannot be measured, but the misconception of prayers that all atheists share can. "I wish Romney wins the election" is not praying, it's hoping.

If Obama wins, I will assume it was because not enough people were praying for Mitt Romney.

Illusive, that's a good point but how can you have less evidence than no evidence? What's your evidence there is a god? You can say that your evidence is that there is something instead of nothing but that's still not evidence for a god.

Even if I did believe in prayer, would an upcoming election really be what God wants to hear about?

Only way my prayer would be answered is if neither one of these lunatics win.

You are sadly mistaken bryank...a very small bit of research on your end would prove this. It doesn't take much to research & learn for yourself...then again, it takes no effort at all to reiterate ignorance.

Praying doesn't mean wishing for something and having it come true. Some of you appear to think that.

No one said there is proof that there is no god. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and that is why I don't "claim" that there is proof. The difference is that not believing in god is logical.

Brandon the founders of our country were secularists. They made sure not to include religion in the constitution except when they said there is freedom of religion. I would tell them and they would agree with me if they were alive.

The only thing I hope for is a better future and life here in America, no matter who the president is.

Actually, it's easier to prove there is a God than it that there isn't. Until you explore the entire universe and find no God, there's still no proof there is none. Good luck. You have less evidence than religious people. And disproving the bible doesn't change anything either.

Wow...so sad the mindset of a few. So afraid of something that you will attempt to demean others who believe. Because you refuse to accept that which abounds in evidence all around you does not make your ignorance any more legitimate.

But since prayer has been proven (through double blind studies) to not work this would be a complete waste of your time, sad to say. I "wish" it was that easy to wake people up. Sigh...

You are the kind of person who gives atheists a bad name. Your comment is condescending and the "Santa Claus and Easter Bunny" part is way overused on this app. A nation full of diverse thinkers is what makes America great. To each his own in his religious beliefs. No need to put down others.

Yes, I've prayed that the outcome of the election will be the best for the nation, that the best men and women would be chosen and that they will be wise in their dealings. I have not prayed for specific candidates.

I pray for the president on a fairly regular basis. As a Christian God tells us to pray and uplift our leaders even if we disagree with them.

I'm relieved to see some fellow atheists on this app. Religion has caused way too much suffering, and it is time for us to make our presence known (in a calm, rational way of course).

No, I haven't prayed. But to be consistent I also haven't killed a chicken to read its entrails, sacrificed a goat, or wished really hard over a four-leaf clover! If I'm muttering to myself, it's probably because I can't find my wallet or car keys!

God does not exist. I stopped believing in him the same time I stopped believing in Santa Claus and the Easter bunny. Grow up.
