Have you prayed about the upcoming election? (UQ)
You'd be surprised
Dear God, if you are real, please prove it to those of us who do not believe. If you are real, let mrO win reelection. If you are not real, Romney will take it. Hear's your chance God, make believers of us!
Bible belters scare me too! And I live in the Bible Belt :(
I do not pray, I vote.
Lets all get on SoH and brag about how we're atheists!!!
They actually have done studies on if, honey. They put cancer patients in different groups and actually, the ones that knew they were being prayed for got WORSE while everyone else (those not being prayed for and those who didn't know they were) got better at the same rate.
Prayer and Politics should not be mixed....
I have way more important things going on in my life
Looks like the Republicans have God on their side. Darn.
I don't remember the last time I actually prayed. If I tried, my prayers might not make it past the ceiling!
Nah. I bet both Obama and Romney pray to win so what's the point? Other family issues to pray about.
Praying for justice
Religion hasn't caused nearly so much suffering as you think. People cause suffering, and they'll endorse themselves in God's name while they do it.
If He knows every time a sparrow falls, I'm guessing He cares who controls the United States' nuclear arsenal. Just a thought.
Lord, we are dearly in need of Your help. I pray that You would bless us with wise leaders and righteous lawmakers. I pray for clarity and discernment for the voters, that lies would become transparent to them. I pray that those who may try to commit fraud will be stopped. We need You, God. Help us.
He doesn't listen because he doesn't exist.
Point of interest, if you have a herself and a small "g", the correct term would be goddess.
No, there are ways to influence a voter without robbing him or her of free will. For example, blessing a foolish one with a stroke of wisdom.
That has yet to be proven. What has been proven is that it costs nothing.
No because prayer does nothing
Just because someone doesn't pray doesn't make them sad and hard of heart.
That's not satire, that's straight mockery. Also: rude. Don't give a bad name to atheists and liberals.
You don't have to be a bible thumper to believe in god. Most of the US are Christian.
Zzzzzzz.......you don't understand faith.
Yep. My wife is catholic and we agreed to raise our children in the faith.
I try not to name names here. I like my head and don't particularly feel like having it bitten off by a bunch of hyped-up yahoos just because I voiced my opinion.
Your name says it all.
It is not appealing to one god, but appealing to the rest of your fellow man/woman. If there is any chance my meditation/prayers can influence them, I am going to give it a shot!
You all are quick to jump to conclusions. I have not prayed about the election, but praying for one side to win over the other isn't the only way to pray for it... @politicallyintrigued has the right idea
No, but I should pray and ask for wisdom about the election. This was a good question!
You bible belters scare the shit out of me.
God doesn't make your decision, you do
People don't need to pray for the election, they need to use their brains for once and learn about the candidates before they cast a vote.
I think it's just like wishing, only it comes with the belief that it could work.
People really are defensive of
God aren't they. He's only a concept. Get over it.
Meanwhile I will vote for the candidate who I think will help promote this peace the best.
I don't pray for one candidate/party to beat the other. I pray for peace, the poor, the underrepresented, the marginalized and the mistreated. Whether remedies to social problems come from the Right or the Left is left to tell. I just pray that peace can be achieved.
It seems the people who believe in deities know very little about the origins of religion or even the word god. The same goes for the people voting for Romney.
On what facts do you base your assertions dream?
moot point. Any research on your part would find men who were deeply religious, men who prayed often, and men that loathed the day this country would fall to such great depths because of the lack said religion. Go, read, educate yourself...you'll learn something even if you don't want to admit it.
Please be more specific about "Idiot" .so far that describes them all. I guess it could be made plural!
Poor poor dream...you've entered a conversation above your intelligence. Sleeping through US history class would still have afforded me more knowledge than you have retained. I am not speaking to the constitution, as I am quite aware that arguing its blatant interpretation with liberal minds is a
Are you asking about Christians specifically or all religious beliefs?
I see no difference in religions and governments. Both are inevitably corrupt institutions created by man to maintain control over the laymen.
They both thrive off of propaganda, lies, theft, and death. Their history are stories of genocide on the innocent.
But if "god" knows all that has been and is to come. Then y pray? It won't change anything.
Brandon please go read the constitution. Clearly you slept through US history class.
Or that he/she/it would, rather.
All religion is based on lies. It is wrong to tell lies. Therefore religion is wrong. The end.
