Funny...about the same percent of people who wanted to protect 20 trees over a single life. I'm fairly certain probably the same people. Wonder if they would save 20 trees or twenty syrians...Tony??

If your money could only go one place....

06/12/12 8:52 pm

Keep them home. I've lost family already to this shitty war

Oh and ask the UN too. We should evict the bastards. Alot of good they did on 9/11. You know being up the street and all.

06/12/12 8:47 pm

Our readiness to intervene in a conflict is suspiciously proportional to economic interests and lack of the countries' military strength.
Hutu and Tutsi kill each other - unimportant.
China kills its protesters on Tiannanem square - too strong.
It looks not right though hard to put the finger on it.

You people who want to save them. Ante up. And then after that ante up to the next one. When you're broke, then maybe you can ask Syria, isreal, timbuktu, and bumf*** Egypt to come to your aid.

I dont want to see people being killed at all but taking it into our own hands is only going to hurt us more.

Or atleast read through the comments? Any at all?

Typpet, did you take into account any other factors other than that?

06/12/12 8:09 pm

We should start with a no fly zone. Then we should tell the UN to get off their ass and do their job or get the hell out of NYC and don't expect any dues from the USA.

06/12/12 7:53 pm

I say yes. Freedom is peace.

Instead of starting war, let's start Peace.

Who the hell says yes to this? I'm all for protecting our assets & citizens: enlisted citizens included. Let's bring them home, put them on the borders, in airports & on planes. Let's send small aide groups to friendly nations. But let's stop, even if for a short while, sending our kids to die.

06/12/12 7:32 pm

It's a tough call. While we are not completely financially prepared, nor recovered from recent fighting, it is a humanitarian crisis. And sometimes, when humanity is threatened the UN must step in. The US is powerful and is a model to other nations, and so we often get involved, like it or not.

You consider libya a failure then?

06/12/12 7:22 pm

Syria is a humanitarian crisis, nearly 10,000 dead (soldiers and rebels)...this is unlike Iraq, i think we should be doing more...

06/12/12 7:22 pm

Ok, I'm just asking. We may not have this opportunity again to remove a very anti-US gov from the world. BTW, I suggest you take the time to actually look at what Syria participates I'm that does directly affect the U.S.

06/12/12 7:21 pm

@RJ nice. I was missing your sarcasm

06/12/12 7:21 pm

RJ, usually I agree with you, but have the last 11 years of unwinable war taught you nothing?

06/12/12 7:19 pm

we are the b***hes of the UN and will do all the work and incur all the cost while the other members whine about how we do whatever we want even though we ARE the ones taking all the risk?

06/12/12 7:18 pm

more dems than pubs think we should send more troops overseas? kinda surprising

06/12/12 7:18 pm

Opportunity for what? To lose more good American lives? To be in another war against a country who has done nothing to directly assault us? (Lebanon doesn't count--that was way too long ago.). To waste more money we don't have instead of fixing our problems here at home? To prove once again that

Moved. Bought a new place. Been busy.

06/12/12 7:16 pm

@RJ where have you been lately?

Of the top 5 antagonists to the U.S., Syria is one of them. Just want to let this potential opportunity slip by?

06/12/12 7:14 pm

I think so. Their citizens (human beings) are being massacred.

06/12/12 7:08 pm

I think we should learn to mind our own business in general, and we really need to disentangle ourselves from Israel! That country has become an expert when it comes to manipulating our foreign policy to their own benefit! They piss their neighbors off then come crying to the U.S. to fix it.

Seriously, what would be the purpose of it?

But please....I'd love to hear more on the perspectives from someone who thinks Ron Paul could ever be president of the united states.

Ever hear of people who use sarcasm? Because we totally need more geniuses like you.

06/12/12 6:40 pm

"Focus on areas with lots of children first"? Can't tell if trolling, or genuinely bloodthirsty and insane.

06/12/12 6:39 pm

The Israelis lied about a threat to them in Syria. And you are disgusting. Wouldn't feel the same way if China wanted to nuke America, would you?

06/12/12 6:38 pm

Innocent people are dying everyday in Syria and the media flaunts the oppressive regime. Don't get me wrong, millions have perished in other parts of the world in the last couple of decades, but this would be entirely a rescue mission. Perhaps we could refurbish our country's world image?

RJ1969 SoCal
06/12/12 6:33 pm

Didn't read up on the Israeli need to bomb their uranium enrichment plant a few years ago when their efforts to make a A-bomb was exposed?

RJ1969 SoCal
06/12/12 6:32 pm

Seriously, you think Syria hasn't anything to us? Didn't get much history, huh? Remember when we lost American troops stationed in Lebanon when the drove bombs on to areas where they were there to help the Lebanese people?

JamesMadison La Palma
06/12/12 6:31 pm

Let's see, Russia is sending AH and Iran is thinking about joining, the US is with the rebels and if we engage so will most of NATO. Maybe WWIII can start here!!

RJ1969 SoCal
06/12/12 6:28 pm

I want to drop several bombs, not just one. Focus on areas with lots of children first. This will demoralize them. Then follow up with poisoning their food supplies.

Seems like the dems want a turn at being warmongers now. Bush:2 Obama:4

06/12/12 6:18 pm

Anyone who wants to drop a nuclear bomb on innocent people in a country that has threatened us in no way is disgusting beyond words.

06/12/12 6:12 pm

Everybody should watch the new documentary exposing the United Nations called "U.N. Me"

06/12/12 6:05 pm

My dad has been deployed multiple times. He has just been told he is deploying to Afghanistan. This is the 2nd time he is being deployed while I have been around. The United States has there own problems that they should fix. The UN can handle one country without the US.

06/12/12 5:53 pm

Not our business! Plus we have drones.

06/12/12 5:52 pm

Syria is a sovereign nation and those are her internal problems.

lmurder MDK
06/12/12 5:46 pm

As for Syria...if we tried to overthrow are government because they got too powerful/controlling (this is already happening) they would use the same tactics as the Assad regime.
They'd use their tanks, jets, helo's and drones against us.
Our fore fathers were smart guys!

@chorizo and njbear. Barn cats have no purpose on a ranch.
As for can have a big military and less government.
Government is putting their hands in everything. When the military doesn't make the laws. You have everything ass backwards. Come again.

The UN are notoriously pussies, they never do anything

ncbuc Get Over It

Sending more troops only weakens our already weakened military and increases casualties and war afflicted. If they would like to support the families of injured and killed soldiers once they return, then we'll talk. But that will never happen.
