That's kind of how I feel. I mean what's wrong with watching Star Trek? Or not watching Star Trek? So why do we need a term to distinguish them?

100% yes. Intelligence, obsession, and poor social skills. I am not a geek, dork, or dweeb. I am a nerd. People need to learn the difference.

Yet, I also have a high appreciation for film and art and theater. I love design, and good advertising. I'm quite the YouTube fangirl. Nerdfighter. I'm on tumblr. I'm quite articulate and enjoy poetry and literature. Call it a nerd, a geek, or a dork. The word has sort I'd lost its meaning.

I don't really like the term "nerd." I mean, I guess. I grew up playing video games with my brother. Used to play World of Warcraft. I love Doctor Who and Sherlock. I love watching the space programs on the Discovery Channel.

Originally I voted yes, because I know photoshop, avid, Final Cut Pro, premier pro, pro tools, I know the specs and screen sizes of all the current and previous generation iPhones and iPads. But then I looked up the definition. I'm no nerd, I'm a geek. A computer geek.

It bugs me when people call themselves nerds, because being a "nerd" is all of the sudden "cool" and "cute" now. Notice all the nerd/hipster glasses you're seeing all the time.

I have a nerd-like focus, expertise, and discipline in areas that interest me, but I'm not socially unaware, awkward, or withdrawn. I have hex keys, drill bits, and a screwdriver with the pens in my nerd pack, but just owning one might make me a nerd. I'll vote no, but I could be borderline.

I'm the poster child INFP. I read, cosplay, watch anime, know everything there is to know about Columbine Massacre, write poetry, love fantasy, obsess over Labyrinth and Donnie Darko, pretend I'm sick so I can get out of plans and spend the time drawing instead.... Yeah, I'm pretty quirky. c:

It's interesting how the connotations of 'nerd' has flipped since the 1980s. Probably has something to do with those same nerds now ruling the tech world and have defined modern social interactions.
