Would Israel be justified in launching a pre-emptive military attack against Iran's nuclear facilities?

Mixhead i read the article and I can see your point. But there is no reason Israel should not blow up their nuclear weapons. So what i a dozen Jews the NY Times interviewed liked it there? Iran is still clearly planning on blowing up Israel and the U.S.

I dont care to defend Iran. I only care to defend the search for truth in the mess of media lies and war propaganda in these matters. Like I said, the interpretation has a debate surrounding it. When you read deep into it, it's not as clear as the politicians made it out to be..

In the end, Israel will act in its own interests (as it has before) and strike. The world will condemn them, while most decent nations, secretly thank them (including Arab nations who would never admit it) and then move on.

Stating Iran may be building a bomb. Thanks @hanis for the link.

@mix
Poll is incorrect in his interpretation.
It a good debate and i do not fault anyone whose information is limited to google and wikipedia. You don't know what you don't know. Poll also agreed that if they were pursuing nuclear weapons, israel would be justified.

Mixhead he has quote said "Israel will disappear from the map". He denies the Holocaust too, a tragedy that resulted in the murder of 6,000,000. Please tell me why you are defending this horrible and sick man?

Sorry for that miss-type but it doesn't change the concept. A journalist visited Iranian Jews and reported on their lifestyles and thoughts. You can find that documentary on YouTube.

@mix,

Quite peacefully is not exactly true. The religion is not recognized, provided over by Muslims and they have been persecuted frequently.

02/11/12 7:03 am

Dude he has said it in public numerous times. Why are you defending a badshit crazy guy?

02/11/12 7:02 am

I would like to see a legit argument as to why israel should not attack, but wait, there is none.

mixhead Oregon
02/11/12 7:01 am

Pollmd is actually correct pointing out the translation of the "wiping Israel off the map" has a lively debate surrounding it. Not only the words being off but the context of how he was actually quoting someone else.

Google it!

War Propaganda is a powerful tool.
Always question it, people die.

@Mixhead i have no idea where you get your facts from. Over 250,000 Jews living in Iran? Seriously? You are just making yourself sound even more stupid than you already are. All sources say there are <25,000 Jews there.

@DiJitiL If Iran hates Jews as much as Hitler, then why haven't they killed off the 250,000+ Jews that live in their own country quite peacefully?

DavesNotHere where am I

They have the right to ensure their survival as much as any other country would. Irans leaders have vowed to destroy Israel. They hate Jews as much as Hitler did. Israel needs to prevent Iran from starting a nuclear war. What country wouldn't ?

If Israel was the US and Iran was Cuba, what would we 1) negotiate 2) Sing "imagine" over and over to them. 3) assume they are not trying to develop nukes. 4) Strike to protect ourselves?

With sufficient evidence, which I believe there is, yes

For all who point to the myth that the IAEA claims Iran isn't building a bomb... Read below from their report that can be found in full at www.iaea.org/newscenter/focus/iaeairan/iaea_reports.shtml

02/11/12 4:42 am

33 Since 2002, the Agency has become increasingly concerned about the possible existence in Iran of undisclosed nuclear related activities involving military related organizations, including activities related to the development of a nuclear payload for a missile.

02/11/12 4:42 am

38. Previous reports by the Director General have identified outstanding issues related to possible military dimensions to Iran’s nuclear programme and actions required of Iran to resolve these.

Don't be sad. Mankind is designed to compete and do battle. Everything we do is competitive and argumentative... Just read the posts here. Just pray that the liberals don't put this country in a position where we can no longer take care of business.

Therefore Israel has the same conservative mentality as conservative christians. The only difference is that the Jew believe from the Old Testament.

Oh ya and those over 40 years of age who said yes. They will never forget the nuclear arms race between the USSR and the US during the Cold War.

Nuclear weapons are very complex specific materials that I am sure Iran can't acquire whatsoever ! And also Iran's Army and their weapons are all old weapons from the past or terribly made domestic weapons , Iran really is defenseless , but unfortunately Israel is a nation built to survive on wars'

waaazzaap Arizona
02/11/12 1:19 am

You hit Iran , you make an already unstable region more unstable , this will result in Iran firing back their Rockets , perhaps attacking 'Israel' through the sea , but that's pretty much it .. Most of those who are afraid of Iran getting nukes are either stupid or retarded ,

I don't think anyone on SOH is qualified to make this judgement, unless we have some senior intelligence officers in our community (which would be really cool even though they wouldn't be at liberty to discuss anything)

pollmd Maryland

They already have enough uranium to build a bomb. Any country that pursues nuclear energy will eventually have enough. However, thats why we have the IAEA to monitor their nuclear materials and facilities.
