Should K-12 public schools consider their social role to be more broad than academic instruction, or should they stick to the books?
Failed parenting is what ails a lot of school kids. The teachers can help out but the onus is on the parents. My mom is a teacher. She has parent-teacher conferences and says that a lot of times the parents come in and seem worse off than the kids. She'd rather deal w/ the kids than the adults.
I don't trust the State with child rearing.
