My impression, is that Republicans will say no, until a Republican is president. Since another election ensures Obama can't be reelected, Republicans should be more optimistic, I guess.

That is not true, for me at least. I consider myself a Republican but am mature enough to know that a Democratic president can lead this country in a positive direction. I may not agree with all the policies but no one rarely does.

I didn't say I expect that everything is going to magically change once Obama is out. I am just saying that I can't be optimistic so long as he is in office. And yea I will most likely be unhappy of we replace him with another democrat.

pinksowner Indiana
07/08/13 3:14 pm

Skinner please give me an example of bad big government. It isn't hard to do according to you. The government stepped in to end segregation. The government also made sure to have good schools in the states that would come from the Northwest Ordinance.

ScottyDoesNo Stand back and stand by

There was no "pressure from Britain", we did it of our own free volition. And ending segregation? Was it not government that officially sanctioned slavery in the first place? And Jim Crow as well?

ScottyDoesNo Stand back and stand by
07/08/13 3:27 pm

So you ask for examples of big bad government that's made things worse, I point to slavery. They sanctioned it, codified into law, and kept the practice going for centuries. And then they, as in the Democrat party, allowed Jim Crow years later.

I would class my outlook as 'Hopeful' more than anything else.

I don't know. We're not on the best path, but not on the worst, either.

For gay rights definitely. I don't know where I'm coming down on the spying on citizens if it was just a select few as we were told or if it's more the general population that makes me exceedingly uncomfortable. Our economy's not so hot either

So, gays can marry, woo hoo. That's great, but honestly what good is that if this country is running into the ground?

The thing that makes me most optimistic is the level that people believe that things are going the wrong way. I am always encouraged by those who believe that we can do better.

I'm pessimistic about collusion of democrats & republicans to serve the interests on Wall Street & military industrial complex. Our government are whores that are for sell to highest bidder. On economic & foreign policy, the 2 parties are actually 1.

Yep. My friends and I graduated at the beginning of the recession and we all thought we were screwed. But we held out and everyone is doing great. The things we worry about now have nothing to do with survival and the future is no longer bleak.

Nope, I'm glad more and more are seeking the truth and learning about what is happening. But no matter what party is in office it won't change much. We the people must self educate and then we can stop the powers that control our country.

Working on it. In the winter, we need two suns around here, so I'm working on plans for a nuclear pile on a stick. There are some... Legal issues.

We are certainly in a bad situation, but we have been through worse. we shall come out of this like we have always done, through embracing freedom and the constitution.

As long as O is in office...we are doomed. He is not a red blooded American who wants freedom. He wants to suppress and bankrupt us into submission.

I am always right about things that go on in DC and I will be right again. You will see

All you have to do is go back a few years when he was writing papers on college, that democracy was a bad thing and socialism is the way to go. Then look who he kept as friends...all people who do not believe in true democracy.

It's more than O, bush started many of these policy's that he uses to control the people. It's more than left and right politics. While your right he I the worst we have had, he was picked as a puppet because he would implement what he was told

How does he support socialism when he sucks off Wall Street and has a recovery that only benefits the wealthy capitalist? Do you even know what socialism means?
