One of the Fox News debate hosts just asked if they would put mosques under surveillance, as well as just said conservatives are in defense of religious liberty in the same sentence. Would you be in support of putting mosques under surveillance?

Surveillance from public property doesn't need a warrant. So that's an option.

Almost ALL the rape that occurs in this country is carried out by males. You're a male. Therefore, you should be heavily monitored to make sure you don't rape people.

Would you be okay with that?

Unless they had solid proof that there were illegal activities going on in the mosque then no

Strong Christian Republican here. Absolutely not unless that mosque poses a credible threat to our national security. That goes for any place.

All mosques and islam in general already do pose a major threat.

@jmahippo Most Muslims don't believe in violence, like Christians. Only a small percentage (the extremist terrorist groups like ISIS and Al Queda) are the ones responsible for the violence. They give Muslims a bad name.

No; unless there is a verifiable, legitimate reason for the surveilance. And only with a warrent.

I know of no reason to necessarily, but it isn't ironic. Louis Farrakahn just asked for 10k "warriors" who'd be willing to die fighting their white oppressors. You bet your bottom dollar someone should keep an eye on that guy. There is justification

Ronder and Alynn: the average person, Christian or not, in the U.S.? No, they don't. Far right radicals that seem to be gaining more and more control of the Republican Party? Yes, they very much seem to believe that

We were both talking about Christians, not Republicans. I wish people would recognize that those terms are non synonymous. Common, but not synonymous. The stereotype makes me angry.

Sorry...I never enter political polls, and this is why. I just get frustrated and say things that aren't helpful. 😕

Mattwall1

The two definitely aren't synonymous. Unfortunately, some far right Christians give the rest a bad name. Personally, I try to avoid conflating the two. I'm not saying I'm perfect, just that there Is a difference

If you really want to piss some people off, make a statement that Christians can't be democrats. You will see democrat Christians come out of the woodwork. 😂

Mattwall1
08/06/15 5:16 pm

Oh I know. They tend to be among the far right Christians that don't value the rights of others in the first place, so for them, a Christian that is a Democrat, or even just only center right, is anathema

alynn Somewhere wonderful
08/06/15 5:19 pm

I used to think a Christian couldn't be a Democrat...then I met one who was and his views changed my opinion. Now I see as many Christian values on one side as I do the other, and as many unChristian values on one side as the other!

ronderman: Democrat "Christians". You can't be a real Christian if you advocate for the government to have so much power.

Ran-all Americans have the right to religious liberty. But, I love how you ignore any achristi and against religious liberty for others and just blame Muslims and atheists. I don't think you understand how religious freedom works. It obviously

Applies to Christians and Jews, but it also applies to all other religious groups

Mattwall1

And I've yet to see the "government may only be up to this size" verse of the Bible. Maybe that's because Christians can have different views on the size of government and still be Christians?

What do size of government and Christianity have to do with each other?

ronderman North Carolina

Ran4, I'm pretty sure that you and I are reading different Bibles. My Bible says that to be a follower of Christ, I should follow Him. It says nothing about the size of government.

I can do that with a variety of political opinions. Look at the

To protect the religious liberty of Jews, Christians, and most eastern religions we must eliminate the Islamic belief that non-Islamics must be converted or killed. That is a dangerous belief.

Mattwall1
08/07/15 12:24 pm

Should we take it away for Christians since they have killed those who refused to convert on the past? Or should we realize you're doing nothing but promoting tyranny?

smacc DunningKruger

Wait, do religious righting a actually promote this or is it an extreme interpretation by individuals? If it is decreed should those religions fall out of protection?

Isis is not a religion just as the KKK is not a religion. They deserve no protection as such.
