BeachSTUSA don't forget rock and roll. It's just as important if not more in modern music than hip-hop. Plus hip-hop does not exist if there is no rock and rock does not exist if there is no blues/jazz. So classical and jazz are the 2 most important styles.

Dr John is a new Orleans style R&B, Jazz, and Blues singer-songwriter famous since the '70s. His most well known song is probably "Right Place Wrong Time", still played on oldies stations and popular with geezers as a party track. I'd like to meet him.

"Nuthin' But a G Thang", "California Love", "No Diggity". Even my country music loving friends at least bob along with these. There's no denying the influence - it's in just about every style of modern music. Now include the other two musical Docs, Hook and John, I'll go with Hook (I'm old).

@ncbuc: Hip hop. It went from a track with a beat and a rapper and an occasional chorus, to a multi-layered track with high intensity output sound capacities and a more pop sound. I think Dr. Dre would have an extreme interesting story, but as a producer he is beyond comparable to most, besides...

Really doesn't matter to me. I picked Dr. J only because i have met him. Funny enough, didn't know who he was at the time. Never been a bball fan. And he was introduced to me as Julius Erving. Very nice guy though.

Umm... The question wasn't who do you like more- it was who would you rather MEET. I'm not a sports fan, but Dr. Dre has been a musician and producer for over twenty years! I would love to meet him and hear his story, regardless of whether I enjoy his music or not.
