If you were given a blank map of the United States, would you be able to correctly name every state?
I finished in the top 20 in my state in a geography bee back in 8th grade. I can name every country in the world by location (except for Africa) and most European, Asian, and North American capitals.
Thanks for that comment. I love it! Every state matters. All of us. Together.
Yes, cuz my 6 year old nephew plays with one of those USA jig-saw puzzle thingie....he keeps me updated!
So did I, but how long ago did you take this test?
Thanks, we Texans appreciate that!
I'm a little shaky on New England, but I'm pretty sure I could do it
Yes and capital and every country and capital in the world.
Looks like I'm surrounded by idiots.
surprising... I thought more people could
90% correct...the Midwest throws me for a loop.
???? Not even close lol
I am assuming a blank map would have the state lines on it. I change my vote to no if I have to draw the lines myself.
Every state and every Capitol. It's useless information, but I like to keep it fresh. Try and quiz myself once a year
People are often surprised that the Cincinnati, Ohio airport is in Kentucky. Especially when they land there & think they're in OH. (I guess it's not that obvious that its identifier, CVG, stands for Covington, which is in KY. Or that it's really the Cincinnati-NoKentucky airport.)
I voted "no", but there's a chance I could.
Can't knock people for ignorance/optimism I guess but that number is way too high. Go try it.. Should be about 15% I'd guess
Of course I could name them... Like for instance, that one way out by the ocean- I'd name that one Lefty. And I'd name that one by Canada The Loner. Yeah I'm really good at naming stuff.
If you're voting I'd hope so...
Wow that was a really deep and emotional statement
I feel like a lot of people are lying ????
Just quizzed myself, and I got the 100%. Only place I get turned around sometimes is the Midwest, and remembering that Colorado is one of the four corners.
I think a lot of people are either lying or too ignorant to realize they can't name and place every state on the map
I think you folks are overestimating your abilities. Have you tried to do this lately?
I said no, because I'm certain I'm mislabel at least one. (Likely one of those tiny New England states.)
We should have a test to see who's lying.
Nope... BUT I COULD NAME TEXAS!!!
Yes - capitals too.
I'm confident that I could get most correct but I think I would get a few in the Midwest wrong.
Haha, I see what you did there!
Wyoming is farther north. Yellowstone park is on the border of Wyoming and Montana.
I think I could. Which probably means I can't.
Vermont is the one that is right-side up and touching NY. New Hampshire is bizarro land...
That's one of the things I'm very lame at.
No,because I keep writing "California" in the ocean. Can't help it- subconscious block.
When I was a kid, we used to compete to see who could finish a wooden puzzle of the US (each state was a piece). Great training!
AnnieM the identifiers could drive you crazy. The big airport in Kansas City is MCI, for example, but most non-aviation minded locals call it KCI, which makes more sense. Fortunately, out of about 20,000 airports in the US, only about 500 have commercial service. It's easy to memorize the big ones.
Not for me, Kermie.
100% just did it
This makes me feel really stupid.
I could do it for my test, but I've forgotten some since then.
The east coast states confuse me a bit.
Vermont is shaped like a "V". That's how I remember.
Annie- I can see that happening. What I do to remember is the Mississippi River makes a baker that faces east. The state that would fit on top of the boots is Mississippi.
That would be a little difficult considering it was one of the original 13 colonies. Not many of them over by the Dakotas.
I really need to start studying more.............
Does New Mexico Magazine still have a feature showing all the stupid things said about the state in the past month - mainly that it's part of Mexico? That used to be a hoot. Sad, though.
We're the only state to have our state name, USA on our listener plates...
I am guessing mostly intellects use this app. Plebs are not ussualy this interested in politics.
lol, sure people. I drove truck for 10 years and still screw up. maybe 10% but NOT 68%!
Fuck that. I can name every nation and its capital off a blank map. Hell, I know the provinces of Rome like the back of my hand!
I'd say the problem with Texas schools is the education one receives depends tremendously on the individual school district.
