They had so much to spend on the road to the olympic stadium, yet they can't afford to properly furnish a hotel?

I could do without doorknobs and shower curtains, but what I could really, really do without would be the shower surveillance cameras.

alot of those are basic essentials. a responsible gov would not allow those places to be open during g an international event. it makes the entire area look like a slum

Some of it is whiny because what did they expect? It's Russia! But come on, you're expecting thousands of people in your town and you can't even get a damn door knob or clean running water? How embarrassing.

Im confused. Is this what $51 billion buys these days Wow. I had no idea that inflation has gone up that much.
P.s. I bet the rooms are bugged and computers will be hacked as soon as they plug the wifi in.

Host cities of the Olympics are responsible to cater to all of the nations attending. Salt Lake City placed a lot of focus on welcoming the world with friendly accommodations.

That's unacceptable even by Russian standards, come on!
I've been to Russia before & my cheap room at least had electric outlets, TV & a working bathroom! The internet didn't like me, but I was ok.

Definitely unacceptable. There was one reporter who said the front desk told them "our water isn't working right now, but when it does don't put it on your face because there is dangerous stuff in it." Welcome to Russia!

The IOC decided to give Russia the olympics over South Korea or Austria (the only countries to put in bids). So you get what you deserve as those countries probably would've done better.

These are Olympic athelets. They deserve these thing *at least* for the amount of sh!t they had to go through to get there. I mean, c'mon, a bed? Hot water?
