The amount of motivation someone has, is mostly a result of:
Hard to say. There was the U ofMN twins studies where a pair separated at birth both would't eat food without cinnamon on it, but is a type A child going to necessarily come from type A parents? And would that trait arise if the child was adopted?
Into a non type A family?
Personality traits are thought to be mostly genetic, especially for adults.
Were/are you a student at U Minn?
Was when I was a younger man... about 14 years ago I was in the actuary science program, but had to leave for various reasons. You? I mentioned the study as I knew a couple sets that were in it and have seen a random documentary on the study.
I've heard great things about the city and their psychology program is excellent, but did not apply because of the weather.
Generally, environment. Unless that motivation is crippled by genetic factors such as depression, anxiety, physical handicap, etc.
Are depression and anxiety considered genetic?
You can have a genetic predisposition to those traits, but environment plays a role too.
Personally, my depression and anxiety are genetic and lifelong. It can be either or a combination of both.
