Man discovers a cure for a terminal illness, asks for nothing return for releasing it, except that the mayor erect a nude statue of herself in the town square. The mayor refuses and the cure is never released. Who's more at fault?
I just can't believe so many people blame the natural! She had nothing to do with the cure, in the first place. She was put into a very unfair position!
She was place in a position where she could have everything to do with the cure, now she has a decision to make, what is more important to her? Modesty or human lives, may not be a fair decision, but still hers to make.
I understand what you are saying.
But the actual question is, who do you blame MORE?
How can people single out the mayor, in the context of your question? If it had been, 'is the mayor right or wrong', that is a different question.
True, and there can be no right answer. Just gauging where people lean
the scientist is being selfish. who cares about a stupid statue. they can save a life.
That argument seems to apply to both
Well yes, but it was the scientist who presented the ultimatum. Porn in the park or cure for cancer?
I'd do it, the mayor is cold.
Just take the stupid statue down right after you've confirmed the cure.
Why not just release the cure instead of putting restrictions on it.
Cause he has issues
Did something like this actually happen?
I really doubt it
No, it didn't, sorry, should've wrote that
Okay, I was a little concerned for a minute...
What's the big fuss from the mayor? The statue could be abstract.
It really depends on what shape her body is in. :-)
What if she agreed to have sex with him once and or sexted him? Obviously he just wants the goods. Unless she was an ass to him and he is getting revenge. In which case she should bow.
Morning routine, likes looking with a nice cup of tea
Really good question. Tough choice!
The scientist is a selfish prick. First, the statue would be rather costly, second, it's invading the mayor's privacy.
If the guy paid for it and the Mayor wanted to save many lives then she should! I would do it for free!
Who's the bigger butthead? Each of them is preventing people from being cured... The mayor at least has a reason, but geez, *terminal* illness. But the scientist holding the cure hostage for no good reason. So overall, the scientist is the worst
I don't know if I could live with the decision if I were the mayor
That's pretty selfish of the scientist.
Nobody is obligated to acquiesce to the demands of another, no matter the proposed reward. The mayor is completely within her rights. The inventor of the cure is likewise within his rights. It is his cure to do with as he sees fit.
Was that a He/she person. Man wanted a nude of herself?
Man wanted a nude statue of the female mayor
Comprehension is waning! Did she have arms?
Didn't think that far into it, I would say yes
What is with all the nude sculptures? This must really be weighing on your mind!! :)
They spin off of each other
Only one more after this (I'm hoping), nude statues are a treasure trove of ethical dilemmas, sorry
I guess when I read nude statues, I think statue of David and wonder what's the big deal... But that's classic renaissance art
If you leave it up to the artist's vision, it can hold lots of twists on what Angelo envisioned
The mayor could have just commissioned a terrible sculptor and been done with it.
If the artist is bad enough, nobody would be able to tell what it was.
Both need to grow up.
Both should do the right thing so people can stop dying.
You would be ok with being blackmailed?
Is it blackmail? I was thinking more inline with the movie indecent proposal
Completely the scientist. I would rather he ask for $1 billion proven the cure works. Unless the mayor was cool with it.
Personally, I'd be flattered that someone would pass on millions just to gander my goodies
Actually I think the scientist is at fault. It's totally inappropriate for him to essentially blackmail the mayor into being publicly naked regardless of the reason.
I agree! I'm shocked at the results.
Like wrong, or should be illegal kinda wrong?
I don't think it should be illegal to withhold a cure but pretty damn close to it. Anyway thanks for the update on what's happening in your town! :D
Extortion is a crime.
Is it extortion? And if so, what would be the punishment? Jail unless he releases the cure?
I just read that Kermie, lol.
Aj and kermie are spot on. I can't believe the results of this poll at all! The scientist is totally at fault and 100% responsible.
I would stand out there nude every day for months untill it's built if it meant getting a cure.
Yeah, but what of the statue was supposed to be a peeing fountain? Could you handle that?
I just pictured the mayor in her business suit cutting the ribbon to her own peeing statue
Absolutely. If he wanted me on a freaking toilet I would do it.
Where does it end? The scientist has an ethical obligation to release. Instead we're going to coddle him as he acts like a petulant tyrant? I don't think so.
Exceptional point kermie, but scientists don't take any sort of Hippocratic oath.
Both parties are actively, through their decisions, preventing the cure.
The mayor, of course, but I would prefer that she keep her clothes on. After all, we all know that what we imagine is usually better than what we see anyway.
The mayor. He did absolutely nothing, while the scientist developed it. Spent all the time and effort to do so. Besides, it may be released/found/whatever after his death regardless.
Maybe he e-mailed it to himself though, then the NSA could claim the better good and release it XP
Mayor was a she if that makes a difference.
No, why would it?
I don't know, but I've noticed several poll results change when you change the gender.
I'm so board
Like wood paneling board? ;)
Oops, did I spell that wrong? Bored, thanks for catching that :)
Just giving you trouble :) Not a grammar Nazi...I promise!
You make good polls, so that's what you can do :-)
I know twss, if you were, you'd been all over my case before :)
Aww, thanks wego
