Man discovers a cure for a terminal illness, asks for nothing return for releasing it, except that the mayor erect a nude statue of herself in the town square. The mayor refuses and the cure is never released. Who's more at fault?
I just can't believe so many people blame the natural! She had nothing to do with the cure, in the first place. She was put into a very unfair position!
She was place in a position where she could have everything to do with the cure, now she has a decision to make, what is more important to her? Modesty or human lives, may not be a fair decision, but still hers to make.
What if she agreed to have sex with him once and or sexted him? Obviously he just wants the goods. Unless she was an ass to him and he is getting revenge. In which case she should bow.
Who's the bigger butthead? Each of them is preventing people from being cured... The mayor at least has a reason, but geez, *terminal* illness. But the scientist holding the cure hostage for no good reason. So overall, the scientist is the worst
Nobody is obligated to acquiesce to the demands of another, no matter the proposed reward. The mayor is completely within her rights. The inventor of the cure is likewise within his rights. It is his cure to do with as he sees fit.
The mayor could have just commissioned a terrible sculptor and been done with it.
If the artist is bad enough, nobody would be able to tell what it was.
Actually I think the scientist is at fault. It's totally inappropriate for him to essentially blackmail the mayor into being publicly naked regardless of the reason.
Where does it end? The scientist has an ethical obligation to release. Instead we're going to coddle him as he acts like a petulant tyrant? I don't think so.
The mayor, of course, but I would prefer that she keep her clothes on. After all, we all know that what we imagine is usually better than what we see anyway.
The mayor. He did absolutely nothing, while the scientist developed it. Spent all the time and effort to do so. Besides, it may be released/found/whatever after his death regardless.
Maybe he e-mailed it to himself though, then the NSA could claim the better good and release it XP
