California Rep. Ted Lieu walked out during a moment of silence on the House floor for the victims of the Texas church shooting. He then created a Facebook video advocating for more gun control. Do you see his actions as appropriate or disrespectful?

Why? Because it's a played out, boring who cares, statement? Now when I see or hear someone famous say "our thoughts and prayers are with you" or "let's have a moment of silence for.." I'm like YA RIGHT

Why? Because he wants to show that the republicans can’t deal with a serious problem other than saying “our thoughts and prayers “ insincerely and another 40000 people will die again this year by the gun

BlackC

Great logic but it’s not true if you have adequate gun laws - starting with banning any firearm that can shoot 400 rounds in less than 8 min.

Robert97206 Portland Oregon
11/09/17 3:51 pm

What would be the purpose of such legislation?

44YY Boston, MA
11/09/17 4:49 pm

So people don’t die. Don’t you get it? People, children even, are getting killed out here and for what? Because the laws say it’s fine to own machines that can kill thousands of people in a minute? Don’t you think we ought to change something like that? Guns were made for one purpose and that’s killing.

Robert97206 Portland Oregon
11/09/17 5:08 pm

Thousands of people in a minute it's kind of exaggerated.

I do get it I'm human. But people die all the time by that logic we should ban vehicles that can drive over 80mph.

Education could fix this. If we taught our children how to use firearms appropriately. And everybody that was able to carry would carry. This shit wouldn't happen so often.

Nice try, thatguy, but you're wrong yet again.

bower8899 Gone, Probably Forgotten
11/07/17 1:32 pm

I support gun control. I don't have any political motives behind it. Say I've been brainwashed if you must, but what could I, an 18 year old, want to gain from having less guns besides safety?

And maybe it's considered disrespectful by some standards. But in my option the best way to show respect for victims is to make sure nothing like that happens again.

gluxford1 Arizona
11/07/17 1:42 pm

And how does passing another law restricting the constitutional rights of Americans while hoping that criminals will suddenly start following the law help solve problems like this? How is that strategy working in Chicago? How is it working in Baltimore? Oh yeah, those cities have sky-high (and rising) murder rates. Or better yet, how did it work in this very case? The shooter was already prohibited by law from owning a firearm due to prior offenses. So yes, you are advancing a political agenda while using the victims of this massacre as a prop for your cause, because if this was really about finding a way to stop shootings like this from happening again, then people like you and Ted Lieu would start looking for real solutions instead of doubling down on a policy that has already proven to be an abject failure when implemented.

11/07/17 1:48 pm

And at least we're offering up a solution other than "thoughts and prayers"

gluxford1 Arizona
11/07/17 1:52 pm

You'd gain the feeling of safety without actually being safe. You'd receive the same false hope that the people of Chicago and Baltimore get when their city politicians feed them the same Kool-Aid. It's usually followed by more bloodshed and dead bodies. Taking away or restricting access to firearms for law-abiding citizens doesn't make the loonies and criminals any less armed or any less willing to commit heinous acts like the one that just occurred in Texas.

gluxford1 Arizona
11/07/17 1:56 pm

That's just the thing, bower. You aren't offering up a solution. Neither is Congressman Lieu. All you are doing is spouting DNC talking points and advocating for the enhancement and expansion of gun control laws despite the fact that they have failed time and time again. What you are doing is the definition of insanity: proposing and advocating for the same failed idea over and over again while expecting different results.

No he is spot on. The republicans are fully aware who pay their bills and it’s not their constituents . It’s simple to repeat over and over again “ let’s pray” but wouldn’t it be better and say “let’s pray” and then say “let’s get down to brass tacks “ and pass a bill that 94% of Americans want is tougher gun control laws? But no the terrorist group ,the NRA , has them by the financial balls.
