Yeah time is an issue and I've found that thrifting you aren't guaranteed to find what you're looking for. When I'm with the kiddos it's pretty much get in, grab what you need and get out
I shop at thrift stores pretty often. And sometimes flea markets. Sometimes they're fun to just walk around and look at stuff, even if I don't find anything I want to buy.
The flea markets here are really fun. They're all indoors, each with a lot of stalls for individual sellers (who aren't usually present). Some specialize in certain kinds of merchandise, some have a broad mixture. You just never know what you'll find
We had a blank wall and I was inspired. After the frame, I spent $6 at Home Depot for spray paint and wall hooks. It looks great, but I can't write on it for 24 hours!! You should totally do it, find a good thrift store frame.
