If the universe was infinite then when we looked at the night sky it would be completely filled with stars and there would be no dark spots. Besides, it's a well established theory that the universe is about 13 billion light years across
As I understand it, the universe started expanding with the Big Bang and has continued to do so ever since. So yes, it's still expanding which means that it is a finite distance across.
the universe is a bubble with nothing outside itself to compare itself to. relativity does not exist outside of the universe so it appears as though it is infinitely large from within and infinitely small from outside.
I've always imagined it being like everything in the universe is trapped inside of a balloon. There is no "wall" there's just places where the universe does and does not exist.
The thing I don't comprehend is now the universe is only 13 trillion years, yet the sun has a life of 10 trillion years, earth about 3... All heavier atoms come from inside stars so... That would mean there was a lot of stars doing quite a bit...
Of work to make heavier atoms, yet they had a significantly shorter life that the sun. I think the universe is much older than our current estimates given the age of our sun. (Sorry it's only ~7 trillion years old.)
The Universe will be a wondrous place to explore and learn about for eternity. It's a shame that most astronomers and scientists will not be able since they rejected God in this life.
Well that is what we think anyways. The problem with these sorts of things is that we really can't know for sure what is happening, we can just observe the effects. We can observe that galaxies around us appear to be moving farther away at great
Speeds but there could be a number of possible explanations or phenomenon that result in such an observation, the expanding universe is just the best explanation we have for it right now. Scientists in the past have agreed in theories that have later
Been disproven, especially with things regarding the universe and microscopic activity (the earth was thought to be the center of the universe, ect.) and theories are constantly being disproven and revised. It is very humbling to think how little we
The universe is not infinite, though it is constantly expanding at a speed humans can't match, and it will be for longer than the human race will be around.
This is what is so exciting about eternity. We will not be sitting on a cloud playing a harp. We will be exploring the massive Universe God created for His own Glory.
If you believe the universe is infinite then that means you think every possible world ever exists. That means there is a world were The Simpsons are real, that means there is a world were The Avengers are real. And so forth
I believe in God, but I don't think the universe is infinite. I'm stating that actual fact that is to an infinite universe which is that is its infinite, no matter how small the chance, every possible world exists in the universe because it's infinit
That is not correct, infinity does not imply every possible combination will be fulfilled. Just look at 1/3, it is equal to 1.33333333 with infinite 3's, but even though it is infinite you will never see "8675309" in that number, only 3's
If one will search the scriptures, one will find that the universe is infinite, and that God has created "worlds without end" in order that His children may have the opportunity to receive immortality and eternal life. It is not an empty universe.
I think it gradually ends and then after that there is nothingness until you gradually enter another universe to cross. There are as many Universes as there are numbers. There is no ending.
Yeah I kept thinking about how all the stars I was seeing had been gone for millions of years too. That was the first time I can remember seeing a full, clear sky with zero light pollution, so you can imagine I was pretty mesmerized. I feel like
Almost all of what we have is theory but some of it is pretty solid. We can actually observe the expansion of the universe though as the distance between galaxies expands via Hubble Telescope.
The scientific community stumbles each other all the time, I'm just stating how there are so many unprovable theories it is ridiculous to say there is unison.
The Universe is all of spacetime and everything that exists therein, including all planets, stars, galaxies, the contents of intergalactic space, the smallest subatomic particles, and all matter and energy.
