Do you believe that there will be a massive shift away from progressive values and toward traditional values in the West in the next several decades?
I'm not sure what you're characterizing as progressive values. Most people have different definitions of what it means to be a progressive.
For example, equal rights are a different concept than disproportionately greater rights for the oppressed. Which idea is progressive?
Gen Z m8s
No, and I hope not
Hopefully so, though I don’t really see the beginnings of any such shift.
Oh god I hope not.
Not toward "traditional," no; toward authoritarian/totalitarian, yes.
Sweet lord I hope so
I wish people would look at these people in the Alt-Right/Tea Party and the progressive democrats, and push them out. The extremists are the ones who are ruining everything. They're the ones creating the division, they don't want to compromise, they want power. Get rid of 'em
No, it’s just a disturbance in the Force.
Once the boomers are gone tolerance , empathy, and politeness will return
No, however this is absolutely ridiculously 😆 youtu.be/spkfIpPmPgs
Probably not because progressives and commies always reserve the right to rebrand their causes.
Progressives has no values.
Do you know what values are? (Rhetorical question btw)
We’ve been sliding to the rRght for couple of decades now. I’d love to see us move to being more progressive.
I don’t think so. I see the world becoming more liberal over time.
Yes. People are starting to see how stupid progressivism is.
I think the more the liberals push, the more people will flock to the other side. Fines over using "wrong" gender pronouns. That type of bullshit is going to make a new generation of conservatives and I am happy for that.
No, current values seen as progressive will start to be seen as normal/expected. I don't foresee a massive shift either way though.
Hi Posco! Long time no see.
Since there are a lot of Democrats who are not progressive they will probably switch to republican.
I don't k is about "massive".
No. Socialism is here to stay. Why work when you can just take other people’s stuff?
Most likely, considering the rise of the populist right in the West and the fact that Generation Z is set to be the most conservative since the Second World War.
Properly Phrased: Do you think future generations will dutifully research factual history, and break free of the detrimental revisionist history that erroneously steers today’s youth towards failed ideologies?
I think so. We’ve been trying out leftism since the 60s and we have not reached Utopia, so pretty soon everything will probably start swinging towards the right. In maybe 50 years when everything is still not perfect, it will swing back towards the left.
Karl Marx explained quite eloquently the need to destroy Capitalism through raising taxes in order to ring in Socialism. That’s evidently the aim of the left...it ain’t gonna work.
Most likely. Neoliberalism is on its deathbed and the last 'progressive' world leader was Trudeau in 2016 who's gone further to the right since his election. Progressives will continue to be sidelined in the US and the younger generation is less progressive. Though we hear a lot about 'right wing populism' in Europe it hasn't really started yet, AfD just got a voice in Germany and once they gain real power the dominos will start to fall. Japan's nationalist pm just got a supermajority, US has had creeping progressivism since the 60s and it's finally starting to recede. Wait until the pendulum shifts, traditionalism will be in for the next 40+ years
No, I've noticed it resembles a pendulum swing.
The pendulum right now has swung right, it will swing back.
Not sure it’s fully swung right yet. But it will.
I feel like it's been 2 steps left and 1 step right. The country has been shifting left quite consistently for the past half century. I'm sure people thought the country would shift away from progressive values after Reagan was elected, but that was obviously the complete opposite of the truth. Now homosexuality is completely normalized, and even Christianity is under attack.
It shifted right to Reagan, then back left with Clinton, right with the second Bush, left with Obama, back right with Trump.
I don't see Christian values in peril, America stays a Christian country.
W wasn't a true Republican.
It's not a true pendulum, though, since it never swings as far back right as it does to the left. Even Bill Clinton's presidency would be considered moderate by today's standards.
I wish. Probably not though.
You wish for the oppression of women, LGBT individuals, black people, and pretty much everyone else outside a select group of privileged white men?
It's not even worth arguing and correcting you when you spew such stupidity right from the get go. So continue to operate under the delusion that that's all there is to traditional values. Have a nice day.
You realize black families are often more 'traditional' than whites right?
Yes. Because we just want everything hateful and bad to succeed, we don’t actually have any legitimate views that are worth even hearing, we’re basically just a bunch of sexist Nazis with no valid opinions. And then you wonder why people go to extremes.
I don't know. I certainly hope not
