Phelan Moonsong is an ordained Pagan priest and wears goat horns on his head. Phelan has been granted the right to wear his goat horns for his Maine drivers license photo. Did Maine make the right call?

If they allow people to wear a hijab then I guess they have to allow him to wear horns.

Regardless of whether they agree with it or not that is his religious affiliation. If they respect head wear for Muslim women why not for pagan men.

As long as the allowance is granted for all types of religious headwear (yarmulke, etc), I thinks it's fine.

as long as it doesn't block his face

Eh, I'd prefer your license photo to be a photo of your face and nothing else. I don't think any religious exceptions should be made for it.

If he must wear them all the time, yes. I suppose. If not, get them off.

Should I be able to wear a cowboy or baseball hat and say it's part of my religion for a drivers license photo?

They say he actually does wear them all the time except when bathing and sleeping. Go figure.

I wonder if there are any other religious guys out there wearing horns, or is he the only one?

I don't think so, unless they are permanent implants. Drivers license photos ought to be taken without hats, glasses, heavy makeup, hair obscuring the face, or other decoration that might interfere with their use in identifying the person using the license. If the horns can be removed, they should be removed for the photo. The guy's status as a priest is irrelevant to the question.

Yeah I'd make sure he wore them all the time. if he gets caught without them on he should be fined and forced to take a new photo.

I was thinking that myself.. It seems a bit odd. However, I can't imagine why it would be an issue unless it was covering his face.usually you've got good reasons for what you say though.

so I wonder, why not the horns?

Nope. He can wear those horns if he wants. As long as we can clearly see what he looks like in the picture.

No, the guy isn't a real pagan, no European polytheist would do that.
