"[bread lines] are a good thing. In some countries, the rich get all the food and the poor starve to death." - Sen. Bernie Sanders
A misinterpretation of what he is saying. Typical of anyone who disagrees with him. Both sides do it.
I don't think he is saying that needing to have bread lines is good. But bread lines are good in Redding people who need it.
It's certainly better they exist when needed than letting the poor starve.
That is a bit of an extremist comment. The rich get all the food? That country would be out of most of its citizens within a couple of weeks.
The comment is out of context. I agree with the intent of his statement, which is NOT to claim that the need for breadlines and the existence of that sort of need is a good thing. Rather he is recognizing that having food available to those that need it is a good thing. Some countries do not provide for the needy, even when the needy are starving.
And that's life.
