At my church we are taught being gay is no less of a sin than any other sin a person commits and if this normal sin is enough to automatically send you to hell than we are all doomed to hell. Do you believe this teaching would be supported by Jesus?

Well the Bible states that all sins are equal in God's eyes. It also states that because of sin (any sin) we are doomed to eternal life in Hell, but Jesus took the form of a man on earth to die and pay the eternal price for our sins.

I have no knowledge of anything saying in the bible that the sin of being gay is by any means a cardinal sin that sends you straight to hell and that it's in fact any worse than any other sin in the bible. Everyone sins in some form. Do not judge

Exactly. So why are gays viewed by lots of Christians as godless people if their sin of being gay is equal to whatever sin they ARE guilty of and they both would be doomed to hell without Jesus. Does Jesus dying on the cross not count for gays??

I think they should focus more on correcting their own faults than judging the gays for theirs. Don't judge a man for the sparkle in his eye when you have a log in your own

The bible says not to rank sins. They are all equal in the eyes of God.

I'm an atheist so I don't believe Jesus was a god but I understand he was a man of peace, love, and inclusion. I don't think he would be hateful toward gays.

Mad respect, man. Truly, these words need to be shouted from the steeples of every church in America.

I have to reject the premise of the question. I never made a choice to be heterosexual. I don't believe gays ever chose to be gay. With the possible exception of the concept of "original sin", I don't believe a person can sin without choice.

It's not a sin to be attracted to your own sex, it's a sin to act on it. We expect pedophiles to refrain from acting on their sexual desires. It's no different for the church to expect homosexuals to refrain from acting on theirs.

If I understand you correctly, the only way for homosexuals to gain the kingdom of heaven is lifelong celibacy. That sounds a bit harsh to me. You must believe in a very cruel God.

My SIN of CHOICE before I was saved was pornography. Could not live without my daily fix. Christ has removed that desire from my life just like He has done with many ex homosexuals who are at peace now with themselves. It's not as bad as you think.

God hates the sin of homosexuality, but he loves the person just the same way God loves every other human being but hates their sin.

I have no idea but, I doubt Jesus would be a advocate of the politically correct.

No no absolutely not, pointing out a mans sin is different that judging or condemning him for it. The gay man won't need to be pointed out for his sin, he will tell you. The most dangerous sin is one that a man convinces himself he's not committing

The bible says that God doesn't rank sins, and then it calls one sin unforgivable. A logical person with a functioning brain would call this a contradiction, but I'm sure you have some other magical explanation.

Aren't all sins supposed to be equal to God, and that's why we all guilty sinners?

Love the sinner, hate the sin. I suspect he would tolerate it. However, they are slaughtering queers now in the Middle East, 2000 years ago they would have more restraint?

Satan is the great deceiver. He will tell you you cannot leave homosexuality because that is who you are. It's a lie! God creates all of us heterosexual. It is a choice to Engage in sexual immorality Just like it is a choice to engage in adultery

The bible describes some as venal sins and others as mortal sins. Where do you get the idea they're all equal?

I agree. However, I feel that gays won't ask for forgiveness simply because they believe it's a part of them and not a sin. I think it's harder to leave a lifestyle behind that to make a resolution to stop lying.

Of course it counts for gays. Many Christians, in their human nature, try to justify their "small sins" by saying things like they aren't killing anyone or being immoral.

It is distinct in at least 3 ways.
1) they identify by their sinful nature - if you ask them to list the 5 identities that are most important to them, many will list their sexuality.
2) they take pride in their sin - gay pride parades, etc.

3) they refuse to admit homosexuality is sinful.
Do any of the above apply to those who regularly engage in the sins of adultery, dishonesty, murder, theft and such? No. Therefore it would appear that homosexuality is a special sin.

Obviously not all are equal in the eyes of God. Not equal in severity, and not equal in forgivability either. And you have no idea what my prejudices are or what I'm trying to enforce.

Wow I hope your church isn't telling you you're all doomed to hell. While the Bible does say all sin is equal in Gods eyes, it certainly never teaches we're doomed because of it (on the contrary actually). sounds like you need a new church.

The thing about homosexuality is that many churches do not even recognize it as SIN even though God has deemed it an ABOMINATION. We are all sinners in need of a Savior including homosexuals.

Well I agree in the sense that every human being is a sinner, and I agree that Christians should not hate gays like many do because, as previously stated, all sins are equal. At the same time, I don't see it as evil to point out a sin.

So long as you accept homosexuality is a sin, you must realize that it is in a class all by itself. The simple fact is that if homosexuality were just another sin, it would manifest as just another sin. But it does not.

John 3:16 God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that WHOEVER believes in him will have eternal life. I'm pretty sure that means everyone who believes. So if a gay believes in God then they are saved through Jesus.

NO. We ALL struggle with some SIN. Fornication, pornography, fear, anger, selfishness, gluttony, gossip. The homosexual is not alone in their struggle. The more we surrender to God the more He transforms us. The first step is admitting it is SIN.

Based on what I know of Christianity I don't think Jesus would condone that any more than he would condone a Christian church enforcing kosher food.
Point being, I haven't been able to find where in the New Covenant homosexuality is mentioned.

Yes I'm agreeing. There's a fine line between judging a man for his sin and pointing it out to him. May the sinless man cast the first stone. Don't condemn a man for his while you struggle with your own. He will be judged just like you will
