Why would you accept 10 at once when you could take 6 now and an option for 6 more in the future? Especially when you can only use two (typically) per year anyway.
I'm thinking all now. What if things change and the company is out of business. What if we become a Socialist country and there is a shortage. I will have eight when others will have four, with no more to be had. Can you say $$$?

If everyone takes the 12 it could over burden the system at a later date. Could you, if it were more responsible, accept 10. That is more than most people ever get.
Wouldn't ten now overburden the system?
