Do you wonder/believe that there is life on other planets?

Life yes, but not intelligent life...

A simple evaluation of Drake's equation by anyone would indicate that it is far less likely that we're alone than other life existing. It's nearly a certainty that something else exists.

I wonder but we have no evidence that there is. I believe the odds are infinitesimal that other intelligent life exists. Possible but highly unlikely.

I believe the opposite, that the universe is so absolutely vast that it's incredibly likely other intelligent life exists. Not that we'd ever necessarily find it, but I believe it's out there.

There are hundreds of billions of galaxies, all with thousands of solar systems, and dozens of planets per.

Exactly, those odds sound pretty good to me.

I thought the same until I investigated further and realized how unscientific that kind of thinking is.

It's math. That's pretty friggen scientific..

So relate exactly what math leads you to your conclusion.

Just saying there's a bunch of them thar planets out thar so they just got to be life doesn't cut it. You need to do a little research.

Nature tends to not do "one offs". I agree that it's highly unlikely for there to be human-like life out there, but the odds are in the favor of there being some other life.

And you also realize, that due to the sheer distance between us and other systems, they could very well exist right now and we'd have no idea (nor them of us) because of the time it takes for electromagnetic waves to travel.

Ebola, it's statistical probability. I understand the variables have to be just right for life (as we know it) to thrive, but with a large enough sample size (the universe) it becomes increasingly likely that life exists.

Also consider that life may come in a form that we don't recognize. We've been discovering life in all sorts of conditions on earth that scientists previously thought would be impossible. That life may not be "intelligent", but elsewhere it may be.

I find it hard to believe that out of all the planets out there, Earth is the only one with life. Surely there is a planet out there
with life. :)

Who doesn't occasionally wonder about that?

True. The word "considered" might make more sense than "wondered"
