A Michigan woman tweeted a picture of herself dressed as a Boston Marathon bombing victim for Halloween and was subsequently harassed and cyber bullied for it. Is bullying ever justified?
She shouldn't be bullied, but she definitely deserves some strong flak for this.
She was dumb. Very dumb. But let's not go over the top about it.
No, cheap costume , kinda funny, leave her be, f****** democrats
The people that are hat raising her and her family are as pathetic as she is.
First off, cyber bullying is not a real thing... Harassment was done, but hell, that shit was funny.
Way to go democrats, let's bully everyone who doesn't agree with us and throw the first amendment into the fire.
Bullying is never alright. If someone does something like that and you're offended you have the right to tell them that and that's about it.
Telling her off is completely acceptable. Making threats is not...it just makes you look criminal and psychopathic. That being said, I'm irritated by fake apologies accompanied by "look how bad my life is now; I'm the victim."
She clearly still thinks she did nothing wrong...she even included a thinly disguised jab at the offended victims, saying that she handles traumatic events "differently," by which she clearly means "better."
People should stop giving their attention to people like that.
"Cyber justice" has gotten WAY out of hand. People hide behind anonymity and make death threats and destroy lives. The punishment this woman received was WAY out of proportion to the distasteful joke she made.
No bullying is ever justified. If I'm wrong, I'm curious to know how a bully would justify what they do.
How exactly was she bullied? Were people just expressing their opinions or were they telling her she should die?
She received rape and death threats and her family received threats also. See link below.
Well then - no - it's not okay - no matter what she did
There's even more than that. Apparently people found nude and semi-nude images of her and were passing them around. I'm all for calling out bad decisions, but I think it went beyond that.
Even I would have bullied her. That's stupid.
Some lines shouldn'be crossed.
bullying is wrong but saying that's not cool isn't wrong. Then again doing something like that, ppl should realize they're gonna get treated that wAy
A lot, but not all of it, was deserved.
Hallowe'en. Michigan! Society seems to have swung from overly permissive to overly fussy. Who can keep up?
Those that commented are worse than her. She apologized. She doesn't deserve the threats and bullying.
She was really tasteless, but so is bullying. Two wrongs don't make a right.
I read about this on Buzzfeed as well. I think your question was interesting and I shared it! I hope that was okay and that you don't mind. :)
I don't mind :) Thanks!
