Do you generally like routines?
I have high functioning aspergers so I love routines.
Routines are pretty boring.
Routine pisses me off. I try to avoid planning, and do things as necessary when it comes, because things never go as planned. Ex) I always tried to walk a different way to each of my classes, everyday at school. Unless of course there was a designated chat-area with pals, of course.
Not. At. All.
I'm not obsessive with it but if you change where things are in my room or something, I'll go ninja on your ass lol
Yes and no? I like having a routine but I'll often tweak bits of it here and there. I like a good flexible routine.
I love routines. A little hollandaise sauce and mmmmmmm, delicious.
I used to. I'm much more favorable now that I have an infant. Infants LOVE routines and they hate it when you change theirs.
I am routinely disdainful of routines. So... maybe?
I was never this wrong at predicting an outcome, not even the election. I hate routines and looks like the overwhelming majority of democrats and republicans agree I suck.
Me too! I do not do well with change.
I think I do! With variations within, make sense?
Anyone can build complex nested conditions. It takes skill to develop effective simple appearing conditions.
I always thought you guys /gals were more logical. It takes a genius to achieve the objective with as few lines as possible.
I agree completely
No hoarding here Tony - my "skills" are based more dogged persistence and trial and error than talent. I barely have a working knowledge of Objective-C and have never even owned a Mac or seen the iOS SDK. Great Apps like SOH have me tempted to jump in, but for now, I'll just enjoy your work. :-)
I hate routines. It makes life boring.
Praet - it's written in tongue.
Couldn't said it any better.
Routines allow you to live productively and enjoy the non-routine events.
But it's so much less fun!
Can not be un-imagined :'(
OCD TO TH MAX
I'm a housewife that babysits my neighbors' kids a few hours a day through the week. Monday is laundry. Tuesday is kitchen & dining room. And so on. I just don't always do the same thing at the same time.
Yes, otherwise ill sleep till 4 and then do nothing
Even my OCD has OCD.
I thought you were serious for a second, and I was thinking "What is this kid? 5?" Lol.
Same here! On-the-can time is SoH time!
I like a basic routine with a lot of room for adjustments. I don't like the same thing day in, and day out.
I am a slave to them. =) Being in the military we have a series of daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and cyclic routines. I guess the good thing about it is you always know basically what to do. You can never know what to expect though.
Yes, I love routines! Beam routines, bar routines, and especially floor routines! As a gymnastics coach I make and memorize many of them. :)
But in all seriousness, I find that I am more productive when I set a routine for myself rather than go with the flow.
10- die after realizing you are nothing but a small part of the evil corporate machine
@Tony : what language is SoH written in?
Tell me about it lol - atrocious programming is bad in any pl - jumping into and out of loops, using double indirect adressing, I had it all.
What's up with hoarding your programming skills? SOH can always use some coding love!
praetorian I don't need it to teach me spaghetti code - I already prefer it. :-) Programming for my own entertainment is a lot different than when I used to have to maintain somebody else's undocumented convoluted nightmare code. PowerBasic is a great compiler and is easier than using an Assembler.
If I'm in a period of my life that doesn't have a basic time/day organizing routine, I find I instinctively create some. But if the question means do I always brush my teeth before combing my hair, no, not that rigid.
I like routines for mundane stuff because they make for efficient use of time...time freed up for the more unusual and interesting stuff. Otherwise I routinely avoid routines.
BASIC sucks - it teaches you spaghetti code.
I routinely prefer Visual C++ and OOP in general.
I like eating. That routine seems to be working out.
The more you follow a routine the easier it is for an assassin to kill you. 8|
I just got finished writing my speech on routine infant circumcision so at first I was thinking, hell no. (You guys care)
But yeah I am a creature of habit
I can't stand routines. I feel boxed in whenever things get to much the same. I don't even use a calendar. Raising four successful kids this way was challenging and chaotic, but rewarding for all. Routines make you feel safe, but they also stifle your creative impulses.
Subroutines in BASIC are nice, and some of the girls in the local clubs have routines that are spectacular. But same play, every day? No way. I'd rather have a list of things that need to get done, with appropriate deadlines, and trust the force to fit the I-gottas in around the I-wannas.
I check SOH first thing in the morning.
Routines are bad for your brain. They dont allow you to use your prefontal cortex as much (or some other part of the brain associated with creativity and spontaneity) i just know they arent great, wont kill you though.
I have to follow routines Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday are a free-for-all.
