RapeX, an anti-rape device, is a semi-rigid condom-like device inserted like a tampon. Inside it has barbed teeth that very painfully grab on to an uninvited penis. It can only be removed surgically. Do you support the use of such devices?

As the rapist told his crying would be victim: "get a grip!"... he probably did not expect her to take it that literally.

I heard about this device more than a decade ago and have never heard of even 1 rapist trapped in it.

It still sounds like sexual assault.

I love this idea. It’s got the same effect as concealed carry. People are far less likely to rob you in Texas vs NY. Why? Because they never know when someone’s packing heat in TX. Same brilliance here.

This will come in handy in the near future as our rapes skyrocket, too. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s a surgical thing. But now that this has been developed, someone will come up with a non-surgical option.

It’s likely to cause an even more violent reaction from the rapist. The woman is more likely to be killed or seriously maimed.

That’s what I was thinking. Or raped in another orifice which could be even worse.

Wow! Yeah, I support that 100%. Only thing is, it could actually be used "offensively" if a woman wanted to lure a man for that reason.

It's a real "leg-crossing" thought for most men.

If a woman wants it I guess, it’s fine

I foresee women using it to “get back” at someone.

A woman should be free to choose whether she wants something like this.

I think a glock may be more productive and requires no surgery

Rape is awful. Murder is worse.

It's not murder if it is self defense from rape.

Maybe you could come up with some miniscule theory of how it's potentially a booby trap, but morally if someone were to rape you and die from that device, then their death should be 100% justified and their fault.

Upon this horrible pain, the rapist would more than likely murder his victim. I am not sure this is as great as they think.

You might change your mind if your 8 year old is raped.

The idea of it having to be removed only by surgery makes me hesitant to agree. Makes it very difficult to switch to having consensual sex and then back to protecting against rape...

A woman can remove it anytime she wants…it’s an unwanted man that must have it removed surgically… What did you think happens when a woman is assaulted, that the man rips it out of her, leaving her a bloody mess as well?

That's not what the poll question states.

Feb 09, 4:57 pm

It should say it can only be removed from the penis surgically. But with that clarification, I'm more likely to accept it. Thanks...

No problem. I don’t think any woman would accept having that thing inserted to only be able to surgically remove it, knowing what’s going to happen when a man can’t get back out of her. That sounds too much like feline sex…

DJ, you must be talking to somebody who has me on ignore. I only see what you are saying. Who else is in this thread?

Anyway, I read the question the same way you did.

I feel like that could be used in very wrong ways. A woman tricking a guy into sex while planning to use it on him.

True, but like with many other safety devices, people can use it wrong or maliciously. It doesn’t make the device bad, and in cases like this I’d argue the good outweigh the bad.

I’m fine with this. If you don’t trust someone you should not be vulnerable around them.

TechieJay 8647

This has been circulating for nearly two decades now, so I don’t think it’ll ever get to the point, but on the off chance that these devices actually become mainstream, it will also make people think twice about whom they’re sleeping with willy-nilly.

No, it won’t.

I lived through the AIDS crisis. People will have sex even if it kills them.

I mean if it's consensual you should find it during foreplay

I mean, I can’t really “support the use” of any particular thing by other people. That said, if someone wants to buy one, go ahead.

You know what, if you feel that this device protects you and it makes you feel safe to wear one every day when you go out, by all means wear this crazy contraption to your hearts content.
