I consider myself completely a-political. Is it morally okay to be a-political in your opinion? I think it gives me a degree of neutrality when forming opinions

Yes, but I also think being apolitical makes a person careless

Of course it’s ok. Be whoever you are.

A-political sounds good on paper. But given that you formed and plan to form opinions on topics.. youll likely be empowered to a sense of right and wrong, and when those opinions coalesce into a similar way of thinking to one group more than another then youll find yourself political on some level. If not it just might be a sign of apathy rather than a cherished trait. It’s ok to have political leanings as long as you keep an open mind.

To be completely neutral might make you a psychopath. That level of apathy is hard to fathom.

Not only is it morally OK, it's probably more moral.

You can choose to be a political and ignore what is going on around, but rest assured politics will not ignore you.

Moral to have your own opinion, beliefs, and interests? Of course!

I think being apolitical is healthier than making it your entire identity and devoting all your time to it.

I would think that if you’re a-political, inherently, you would also need to be a-opinionated about political issues as well, otherwise you’re not really a-political, are you? More like “middle-of-the-road.”

Morality and politics are so intertwined in America today that I don’t believe it is even possible to be apolitical and moral at the same time. For instance, just saying that something is immoral in the United States immediately becomes a political statement.

You can't be neutral on a moving train. The world is changing around you whether you like it or not. Not speaking up in favor or against certain things is still a choice. It's tacitly approving of the current tides. For me the personal is very much political, I need to be political because it affects basic things like access to my healthcare. Staying quiet and not opposing atrocities perpetrated by your country, not even simple things like voting, is not moral in my book.

I think most Americans would be apolitical if given the social opportunity. Growing up I knew way less people to have any interest in politics or even the news.
