It’s been many years since I have watched pro football. I watched the first half. My assessment is that the NFL is like a geriatric version of college football.

I am a fan of NFL football, so this is my last "fix" until August.

You can watch the ads later. There’s no need to watch it live.

So... what teams were playing and who won?

Just trying to be social, here, and pretend to care 🤣

Totally boring spectacle punctuated by a dumb Patriot quarterback.

If the Packers or Vikings aren't in it, I'm not wasting my time with it.

It’s an excuse to eat good food and watch football, not much more of a reason is needed

I watched because I bet on the Patriots to get stomped.

Easy money.

I haven’t watched football in over 5 years, so I thought I’d give this a try. Kinda sorry I did.

The game was about as exciting as a colonoscopy. The flyover was the best part.

I'm an American. We watch the Super Bowl and drink beer. Anything else is un-American.

Watching the Patriots get embarrassed on national TV is always a chef's kiss.

We always watch but it’s a boring game. I feel like I’m in “el bario” with halftime. Not enjoyable. Thanks JayZ.

Was he bashing the USA at the end. I think so. Anyone speak Spanish?

He is from the USA, why would he bash it?

The ending was him calling out our diversity and the football he held up at the end said:

“Together, we are America”. You don’t get much more American than that.

You would if the whole thing were in English.

Puerto Rico is hardly the USA. I personally don't count territories as part of the country.

Why wouldn’t you consider them part of the US? People born in Puerto Rico are US Citizens.

Yeah, but you don’t prioritize a minority over a majority.

This is the United States. The founders spoke English. The Constitution and Declaration are written in English. All our laws are in English. Our society is centered around the English language. And President Trump finally declared the official language of the United States to be English.

Wether this nimrod playing the halftime show had a positive, American message to convey, the majority of America will never know because they couldn’t understand what he was saying. This was obviously a contrived, derivative, predictable attempt at a political statement. And the majority of Americans don’t want to see it.

If you want to focus on language solely then I think you are missing the point.

The NFL is a business, its goal is to provide entertainment and make money. They want to expand globally, hence the increase in games outside the US for the last couple years, and even more next year.

Bad Bunny is the top singer today, and he has a great global presence. Why wouldn’t the NFL, as a business, choose a person that would attract a worldwide audience which is its mission?

So going back to the whole language conversation, who cares if it isn’t in English. You can still enjoy music and show even you don’t know the language, that’s kind of the point of art. It’s meant to make you think and feel however you interpret it. So saying “This is America and I need him to speak English!” is really just a selfish perspective and not one that the NFL cares about, nor should they care about it.

Being an American citizen does not prevent you from being against America. A good third of the country seems to thrive on being anti-America.

No one is actively “Anti-America”. There is so much to dissect there, so let’s just focus on just the 1st Amendment.

America was founded on many freedoms like Religion and Speech. If you look at our constitution the founding father specifically did not define any laws around one language type.

So on the Right, People say if you aren’t Christian and don’t speak English, then you are Anti-American. But it’s ironically the reverse. If you try to take away the freedom of Religion and Speech then it’s the Right who is by definition “Anti-American”.

“Wether this nimrod playing the halftime show had a positive, American message to convey…”

Jack, you should look up the translations for his songs. Spanish speaking parents—the good ones—do not let their children listen to his sexist and pedo lyrics. They’re disgusting.

Not watching the superbowl because I’m not interested in sports. But I do plan on watching the TPUSA halftime show because everyone is hyping up bad bunny over the Super Bowl for political reasons. Bad bunny is Porto rican and they can’t even vote in our elections so why hype him up for political reasons?

Puerto Rico (and other US Territories) can actually vote in our elections. They just can’t vote in final US presidential election. They can vote in the primaries though.
