Catholics: do you remember your confirmation name? For those who haven't made it yet do you know what you want it to be?
Mine was Allen. I've since forsaken the Church.
I'm not catholic but I know my father's was St. Francis.
Saint Robert Bellarmine.
Theresa- for those wondering why we get a name it's because we are joining or being re-born into the Catholic Church hence a new name. It usually goes after middle but before last.
Confirmation name? You get a new name just for that?
It's like a second middle name
And so you choose any name you want, or does it have to be a church figure, or what?
It has to be the name of a saint
I got confirmed at a young age. I was basically told to. I didn't know any better. Now I'm an atheist.
Guess I didn't really "confirm" anything.
I never got confirmed
I selected St.Ignatius of Loyola
I go to a Jesuit school
A very fine name
I was just gonna say! How Jesuit of you :)
Saint Peter Canisius Pray for us!
What's yours mr. Seals
Ferdinand is my conformation name
I just realized I made a typo :-P
Going to be Elizabeth Ann Seton... my confirmation is in early February
Why am I seeing this poll if I'm not catholic?
Because you're liberal and open to seeing it?
I'm not Catholic either. I feel like I meant to go I to the bookstore and got a church instead. Can you direct me to the self-help section? ;-)
What is ur declared religion?
Me? I'm agnostic. I don't truly believe in god, but I don't doubt the slightest possibility that a god exists.
Not a catlicker, but would choose saint nicholas because he slapped a guy he disagreed with.
So wrong on both points...haha.
Both points? And how so?
Catlicker... a because of the slap...c'mon!
I chose mine for its personal significance.
What is a confirmation name?
Is this the name if your "patron saint?"
Joan...it is my mom's name
I don't really know that much about this. Can someone explain it to me?
When Catholics are confirmed they pick a name of a saint they look up to or feel closest with.
See MrMilkDud's answer below.
It's a tradition that goes back to the early church and was based in the biblical pattern of people changing or modifying their names after undergoing a conversion or when God gives them species status or responsibility
Special, not species.
I picked it to remember my uncle.
It was the 1st name that I thought of and it's Herman for anybody wondering.
I'm Lutheran, can you explain what this is exactly?
When Catholics are confirmed they choose a "confirmation name" which is the name of a saint they feel close to or would like to emulate somehow.
ok thank you
Mine is going to be Elizabeth
That's a good choice.
Ummm I'm not catholic
I'm not either but will show respect to those who are.
Then why did you answer?
Yeah matt, why?
EB how did this show disrespect? All I said was I'm nit catholic.
MrMilkdud I hate seeing unanswered polls, they really annoy me for some reason
Matt- I was playing w/you. I'm not Catholic either, yet answered this poll:)
Are "Catholics" a targeted question group now?
Oh "we're targeted" all right
I wont share but my name is "high up on the chain".
Cookie-I don't mean "targeted" as in we are targets, I mean polls can be specifically directed at us.
Names high up the chain?
I know what you meant and I meant to mean what I think you thought I meant. Got it?
Nope. No clue, chicken
Do you mean that what milk thought you meant is what you meant when you said you thought you knew what he meant? I got it.
Milk you are one of my guys (I think, maybe, sort of?). Don't make this complicated. Am I on thin ice?
Lol. No, you're not on thin ice. MilkDud and I love you.
Nope, you aren't even on ice
If you know what I mean. I think you know what I mean when I ask if you mean what I think you mean. :-) lol.
Alls well that ends well❤️
Anthony. Same as my dad
