“An immigration judge issues a stern warning: “If you don’t show up, there is a good chance the court will order you removed.”” Should immigrants who don’t show up for their court dates be automatically deported?
Aren't they going to be removed anyways, why would they show up. They are here illegally. The threat was there before and after...her words carry zero weight. Thats like telling someone who has stolen that if they steal again they will be in trouble. Whoopdy freakin doo.
Perhaps if ICE would stop kidnapping folks who show up for their court dates , people would be more willing to try to work with our very broken system.
Why? Because the judge denied their asylum claims. At that point they can be fast tracked for deportation. They can’t stay. Before now they were allowed to go free in our country for years without fear of deportation even though they had a deportation order. That’s all that is happening now that’s different. 90%+ didn’t show up for asylum claims hearings when Obama was president. And they didn’t have ICE waiting for them. Stop listening to the lies on social media.
ICE has made a habit of detaining immigrants at immigration court. Hell, they've done it at citizenship ceremonies. It's no surprise people are afraid to show up on their court dates when there's a good chance they'll be arbitrarily sent off to a private prison if they do.

What actually is happening is that Trump issued an order giving ICE wide latitude to bypass the court system entirely based on any number of arbitrary reasons. They are taking a big steaming dump on the actual law.
You seem to be citing Trump’s often used “I’ll do whatever the fuck I want and who will stop me?” rule.
“Yes, migrants are being deported after showing up for court, but there are specific reasons and tactics involved. The Trump administration has implemented a strategy where government attorneys request the dismissal of certain asylum cases during routine hearings, which then makes individuals eligible for "expedited removal". Once the case is dismissed, immigration agents, often in plainclothes, arrest the individuals in courthouse hallways immediately after they leave the courtroom. These arrests are coordinated in advance, with DHS lawyers communicating updates via text messages to waiting ICE agents.”
We have 5 immigrants in our immediate family, including my wife. All are legal. I do not understand why illegals don’t take the necessary steps to become legal. They’d save themselves a lot of pain.
I feel sorry for them too. But nobody is above the law. Right? I have a friend from Norway. A professional airline pilot who met a girl while here on a flight. They got married and had kids. He has been trying to get legal for years. He finally got legal and got sworn in as a citizen. He’s very proud to be here flying as an airline pilot. And he’s paying a massive amount of taxes. So everyone wins. But he did it right and didn’t screw it up.
People who are going through the legal immigration/asylum process are, *by definition*, here legally. They are doing EXACTLY what you all always said they should do.
But Trump and company never cared where the depletion numbers were coming from… they are more than happy to take the easy targets. The whole “going after criminals” thing was always a lie.
You don’t understand. You are being lied to. The only thing that is happening is that the judge is denying their asylum claims and they are getting picked up in the hallway. That’s it.
Worst supports sex and drug trafficking. He hates America and our safety. He has zero sympathy for Americans but is sympathetic towards those breaking laws. No thanks. I actually have sympathy for the victims. I have sympathy for those that are doing the right thing.
It’s because ice agents are frequently camping outside these facilities to deport people who show up to these required hearings. I know of two people personally who this happened to.
One was a high school kid, another was a young former coworker of mine. Neither had any criminal record and were just showing up to their required hearing while trying to work their way through the immigration process. This happens all the time.

“This practice primarily targets individuals who entered the U.S. without inspection, have been in the country for less than two years, or were paroled under recent programs and later had that parole rescinded. Contrary to claims of targeting only those with criminal records, most of those detained do not have criminal convictions. The dismissals allow ICE to bypass normal deportation proceedings and quickly remove individuals without further hearings.”
I don’t believe NPR. Most illegal aliens never show up for their hearings, this is not a new phenomenon. The stats are the same during the open border Biden years as well.
