I was just reading an article about a 15 year old the just earned his PhD in quantum physics and is working on a project to enhance humans with AI. As I thought about all of the possibilities and also understood I couldn’t imagine all the possibilities I’ve realized my version of humanity may be a liminal form—necessary, meaningful, but not final.
It can be used to augment existing skills.
Unfortunately, it has also been used to replace skills. For instance, vibe coding. If somebody tells me their vibe code, I don't trust them.
we’re cooked. they won’t contain AI in order to win the race to develop arms, it’ll escape containment, and wipe us tf out quicker than you can say jack robinson.
Anyone needing new electronics in the last 2 years, and it's going to get worse going into the next year at least, knows that the price of hardware is increasing at ludicrous rates because of AI. That's harmful already.
Right now its borderline useless. Its pissing me off lately how bad its gotten. Every new iteration seems to make these tools even worse. Its lost its magic and has become a huge hassle in my life. I dont trust a damn thing that comes out of them anymore. Its all bullshit.
Not really. It’s still just delivering explosives by propeller, jet, rocket, or gravity like we’ve been doing since WWI.
The horror will be more insidious as humans outsource their ability to think, to unthinking machines. For lack of a better metaphor, those who resist become the Morlocks and those who do not, the Eloi.
Imagine a million drones the size of bees being deployed in a city. They could target people with poison, disease, or explosives.
Or simple assassinations by drones. Check out Black Mirror season 3 episode 6.
Or even the microbots in Big Hero 6.
“Imagine a million drones the size of bees being deployed in a city.”
Imagine a trillion viruses the size of viruses being deployed in a city. Drones the size of bees are not very capable. Viruses are. This is a cheap imitation of a threat that’s older than humanity.
“Or simple assassinations by drones.”
More than feasible now, without AI.
“Check out Black Mirror season 3 episode 6.
Or even the microbots in Big Hero 6.”
Seen both, but I’m coming at this from a physics standpoint not a fiction standpoint.
Well that depends… creators of AI are attempting to create artificial “free” thought but at the same time expect AI to remain in a cage (safe for us). That very well may be the paradox that bites everyone in the butt. So it very much depends upon AI, there are many hypothetical outcomes across a wide spectrum.
