World War 1, Great Depression, World War 2, and the countless other events couldn't kill it. A bunch of mentally disturbed political deviants are a joke.

This is just another example of 🎢"We didn't start the fire..."🎡. The new generation will always suck. They are destined to destroy the country...

It depends on what is meant by that. Affording a home and family is very doable for most people.

It’s been dead for a while now. Most of the new generation doesn’t have much chance at comfortably buying a good house and starting a family.

The American Dream is very alive. The understanding of what the is the American Dream, is what’s dying.

The American Dream is about the opportunities. There are so many opportunities out there… people just choose to complain and blame others instead of working hard to achieve their goals.

Apparently, many people don’t understand the Dream. The Dream is that you have the opportunity to pursue your dreams through hard work and determination, not that others owe you whatever you want while you sit on your ass.
By the way, bad things happen to everyone, some more than others. That is life. If you really think another country would be better for you, why wait? Go check it out.

Exactly, you have to work for your dreams, not sit on your lazy butt and wait for people to hand it to you.

For the vast majority of us, that hard work does not get you recognized and does not get you promoted. It only gets you exploited by the corporations. There is no loyalty to the employee but there is a demand for loyalty from the employer. It’s a one way street in a race to pay as little as possible and offer as little benefits as they can with no real prospect for growth. You are nothing but a profit generating number.

Reagan & Trump killed it with their tax "breaks" and the job market is bullshit. You need a master's degree to work at a retail store and 5 years of experience to work at McDonald's. .

I think it depends on what that dream is. The definition varies from group to group and has changed over time:

If your definition is to be in America for safety, and to be free of religious persecution, the dream is definitely alive compared to most of the world.

If the dream is to have lifelong financial security and a comfortable lifestyle, that dream is much harder to achieve than it used to be. The buying power of the dollar has been steadily decreasing since before I was born, so it now takes at least two full-time working income to maintain an average home. Nor do we have a culture that emphasizes steady personal financial growth.

If the American dream is to make it big – really big – then statistically the answer is no. But then that has always been an outlier and an improbability. People just like to attach themselves to that dream the same way that they buy lottery tickets: lightning has to strike SOMEWHERE… but realistically, it will never happen to you.

The change I’ve noticed is in the expectations, a demand for things to be provided rather than demanding of oneself the effort to make it happen. My good news is in observing my teen grandchildren, real go-getters. As high school juniors she manages a tanning salon while he has teamed with buddies to start several companies even though they’ve been spoiled by wealthy parents. But then their parents also started very poor.

I answered the question, you can have your American dream as long as Democrat and Liberal politicians stay out of the way. That’s my opinion. As far as the fake news goes, they don’t report facts, they are all the time, being proved wrong and to be straight out liars. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Every time I see the phrase “fake news”, I think of their heroes like Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingalls, Breitbart, etc etc etc.
Interesting phenomenon, isn’t it, that far right wing sources can’t handle the Truth so they call it “fake news”?
