Are so-called "alternative media" like TheBlaze and The Drudge Report legitimate news sources?

Don't they both reference and source their information? If so, then yes. I like collected data from different sources.

Are they a news source? Yes , they have news articles. Most of the time it's faster and more up to date than most others.

When news has a theme, it's got a problem.

In theory, information sources should provide as many confirmed facts as possible

Now, it's all about getting a demographic in to sell advertising.

Drudge isn't a news source. He provides links to other sources.

So he's a secondary source

I take in news from many, many sources before I decide on what I believe to be the truth. To do less is to abdicate your own integrity by placing too much blind faith in one source. These are as legitimate as any other source when taken in context.

Absolutely! But check your sources and back it up with other research on your own.

No. They are so biased it is total opinion that often contradicts fact. White House .gov is a more reliable source, if that says anything!

American media sucks. You never get real, unbiased news in this country.

You never get unbiased news from humans. Ever.

Bias doesn't make it illegitimate as a news source.

I dont think its a matter of opinion. Do they report news? Do they have journalist? Do they produce original reports? Do they do interviews? Do they investigate? Do they get under politicians skins? If yes than they are legit news agencies.

You forget one important question - do they have integrity? That's where they fail

I know all about the Stanford prison experiment. What does that have to do with Beck or Drudge?

If integrity alone was the measure, certain mainstream alphabet news sites would be delegitimized. This year alone several creative edits of audio was constructed to deliberately change the news story for a political agenda

Very true, komm. Any steady feed of information about current events is a legitimate news source. Any such feed coming from humans will be biased and of mixed and questionable integrity.
