Are there any atheist conservatives out there?
Yep. Right here.
Would you settle for an agnostic conservative! I like to play the odds.
As I was typing below I wondered if there was some contrarian somewhere to violate my expectations.
I think atheist/libertarian would be more common, with conservative financial views. But what do I know. I'm an atheist Green.
Yeah, that's my impression of Libertarians also. Your point ties in with my belief that the younger generation is re-writing cultural categories. Probably a good thing.
Nice on the rewriting point. There are many "inherited traditions" that the youth feel free to toss aside. Refreshing.
And you would be wrong. Catholic conservative libertarian.
@avg,"wrong" only if you are everyone. I am sure there are more people around here.
@avgguy, OK. Been wrong before.
There are very few non-religious people around here. We tend to keep a low profile, but all are left wingers. My observation has been that religion and conservatism go together. Am I wrong?
While I wanted to disagree, the above link shows that those unaffiliated with religion are much more likely to be democrat. I'm unfamiliar with how the pew research guys are skewed.
Thanks. Pew is a pretty reputable organization.
I'm atheist and fiscally very conservative.
But socially very liberal
