Inspired by BringsTheEagle: Is the amount of debt owed by the US growing or shrinking?
Overall growing, but the rate that it is growing per year is shrinking, as it usually does under a democrat president.
What Fredd said
Growing at a decreasing rate because deficit is going down.
I know happy knows the difference, but did they confuse deficit and debt?
BTE was making a big deal that the deficit was shrinking, without realizing that it still means that we are going deeper int debt.
Growing, both in absolute value and as a percentage of GDP which is what really counts. It's forecasted to peak around 2015 and start falling (as % of GDP) after but of course anything can happen to change that in the meantime.
This appears to be correct, according to one source I checked.
