Have you ever pre-ordered your Thanksgiving dinner from your local grocery store, deli, etc. instead of going to the hassle of all the perpetration?
I have about 20 people every year. I get a spiral cut ham from Honey Baked Ham but make most everything else. We love chicken and dressing more than turkey. Sweet potato casserole, potato salad, green bean casserole, purple null peas, yeast rolls
My mom hates to cook. She orders a ham from Honey Baked Hams, and BOOM! Instant Thanksgiving meal. Everyone else prepares side dishes to bring.
What kind of lazy ass would do that? Making dinner is half the fun.
I'm a lazy ass that has :-/
Not really. I just wanted to say that to you :-)
I'm the lazy ass that did it 2 years ago, but I felt like giving birth the week before earned me a pass that year. :-) I still made taters & gravy anyway.
I think its sad that your family didn't cook for you while you were in that condition. You shouldn't have lifted a finger. Where was your husband?
He was watching my 2 older sons. Believe me when I tell you that it was better that he didn't make the potatoes!
I guess... I still don't get it.
If it makes you feel better, I didn't have to pick the bird up or clean a thing. I also like to cook, which is good since my husband specializes in making ice. Thanks for the concern, though. It's appreciated!
We don't host Thanksgiving, but we do this for Xmas every year. We still make a few of the side dishes ourselves, but we get the basic meal (turkey, a few side dishes, & pie) from the grocery store. So much easier.
We did it a few years as mom got up in age. We have a very small family.
Never ever would I do that. Having smoked turkey, homemade from scratch stuffing, sea food salad, mashed sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, chocolate cream pie, homemade cranberries,5 bean salad.
Order & cook too. We are a bunch of pigs who want tons of leftovers
Not the entire meal, but we usually order ham.
I have eaten Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant though.
No. We like cooking, we don't do anything elaborate, we like our family recipes for things like stuffing & cranberry sauce, & some of what we make isn't conventional. (Two meat-eaters plus 1 vegetarian = roast chicken + veggie entree.)
Perpetration? Exactly how do you celebrate Thanksgiving, again?
Nope, but I have done Thanksgiving dinner at Cracker Barrel.
We are considering it this year for the first time.
We did it through Safeway a few years ago. It's just mom and me and cooking a traditional dinner is a lot of work for just us two! Safeway's stuff was ok. Not really yummy enough for the price, but it was nice to have turkey on thanksgiving again.
We got our turkey 2 years ago from our local barbecue joint. I highly recommend that. Joe's Real BBQ in Gilbert (if your close) is delicious!
No. The best part of Thanksgiving is cooking with the people I love.
