I think some of the bands listed would cringe if they knew they were being called 80s hair metal bands, just metal, but, not hair metal, i.e. GnR, Scorpions. So Poison wins this category.

Gotta say, I only liked VH up till '84.

How were Scorpions hair metal when three of their guys were practically bald on top?

These are all my favorite bands still today!

I have seen all multiple times in the 80's & the music today does not hold a match to their teased hair!

Loved GnR but what about Aerosmith? Also at the time everyone said Bon Jovi was metal.

Aerosmith was more 70's and more blues than metal

Van Halen sets the stage for all the rest to succeed. Def rocks. GNR is a favorite, yet due to constant BS in band, not enough material developed to say they were great. Welcome to the jungle baby....

This goes down to Eddie Van Halen vs Slash for me, and Slash wins.

Interesting. Wasn't big band a little before your time? I had assumed rock and roll had taken over by the 1950's.

Big band started before I was born. I think it was on the down slope in the 50's when other groups began to become popular. I heard a lot of Big Band in my early years. I guess today it brings back a lot of memories. It is still around the fringes.

Basically the voting goes to the most famous band and the most liked. I don't think hairstyle is really considered for most voters

I would have picked "none of the above" had it been an option so I let my wife choose. MrsMoonshot chose Mötley Crüe without hesitation. When I met her in 1992 she still had the '80 hair band hairstyle.

Tough choice between GnR and VH. I'll go for Van Halen for their longevity. But both bands had the best new guitars of the last 20-30 years : Slash and Eddie Van Halen
