I found an iPad tonight, while working out with Jabba. It was run over by a car, but is still functional (screen broken). I am thinking of taking it to the local Apple Store. Is there another option to find the owner?

Sometimes Apple products are laser engraved on the back.

It would be funny if we were at the gym together and not even know it. I got back from lvac a few hours ago. Lol

Which one? I just canceled my membership to Lifetime Fitness. I just wasn't getting my money's worth. I was actually walk/running with my dog on Red Rock Ranch Rd next to Red Rock Country Club (on the road, not in the club).

I live right up the road. Up Flamingo, past the roundabout, first right, left, then first right.

Taking it to an Apple Store is best. They will know who the owner is.

Turn it on periodically. The owner may have it on Find My iPad. If it's not locked, look in the contacts to see if any contact are tagged as "me". Send an email to that contact. You might be able to tell by contacts who a family member is. Send email

If you can get to the serial number, let Apple know you found it. If they registered it, or reported it as stolen, they may find the owner.

Thanks, it is locked though. I am going to leave it on and bring it to the Apple Store. They should be able to find the owner. I was just wondering if there was something I could do tonight. I bet the person is stressing out about the loss.

Apple Store did not want it. They said they can't obtain the owner's info because of privacy issues. I put an add on Craig's List. How long would you suggest I try to find the owner?

I think it's already quite commendable that you've tried as much as you have. You're one of the good ones.

Thanks, I just know how I would feel, if I lost one of my devices.

You can go to iCloud in settings to get their email address.

There are tracking apps. Check for it. Something like "find my iPad" or such.

You may see their Apple ID in Settings. Or, try to buy an app. It should show the Apple ID which should be an email address. You can email the owner.

Apple ID isn't always an email. I'm an Apple vendor and mine is just a simple name. Apple employees would often be the same.
