Virtual Congress Vote. Congressman Skinner (R) of Massachusetts and Congressman Mattwall1 (D) of California bring the Skinner/Mattwall Free Trade Bill to the floor. The bill is available to be read in the comments section of this poll.
On this vote the Yays are 56%, the nays are 44%. The bill is passed.
Name one god reason to be against this bill
As I understand it, the Congress would still have to vote to approve the final agreement. This just enable diplomats to produce an agreement for our approval. There is no risk in approving the current bill.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
You are correct
Good! Focusing on one trade agreement in a region makes sense. I heard Finland was think of dumping the EU.
Why does everyone hate this bill?
I support this but I don't understand why it's only the European Union. What about countries outside e.g. Norway?
Because they are interested in a free trade bill with us. Recently Canada has signed a free trade agreement with them that streamlined tariffs and regulation.
OK got it.
How would this work?
Trepid will nominate 3 diplomats who will create a free trade bill with the European Union which will then be voted on by Congress.
But how? There is no virtual EU.
There is no virtual healthcare, military, jobs, pay, etc either but that hasn't stopped us from legislating it.
But in order to work together on something the EU has to be there to negotiate out a bill or I don't see how this would work.
The three diplomats will come up with a deal. The EU will accept. It will come to the Congress to be voted on. It will be signed into law.
But how can a deal be made with only one side. This is a good idea but maybe we should wait until we go international to deal with foreign relations.
How could we ever go international. This is the best we have. Mattwall1 already made a foreign policy bill that created defense pacts with half a dozen Asian nations.
Tony said SOH is going to open up internationally after 3.0 slowly so when we get people we can make diplomatic relations involving other countries to agree or what not.
Okay so how about we pass this bill and then wait for 3.0 to negotiate?
Why don't we wait until then because shortly after 3.0 it's only going to be available to the UK, outside the US, so we can create a one on one bill with the UK and later other countries can join in.
I don't thing we have the power to act on Sec. 2+3
Section 2 and 3 are just contingency plans. We will not be doing anything with that unless England leaves the EU or Scotland leaves the UK.
There are too many hypotheticals in this law that would not apply today or in e near future. I cannot support this unless The entire UK left the EU
Why? That doesn't even make sense
So unless England leaves the EU, this law is pointless?
No. If England doesn't leave the EU section 2 is pointless. And if Scotland doesn't secede section 3 is pointless.
Section 1 is the important one. If you support free trade vote yay.
I support this, seeing that section 2+3 are reassurance clauses, and that this could possibly improve economic relations between Europe and America since the Great Recession.
WV you're back! Where have you been I thought you quit
I've had so many papers to write plus work I had to take a break, my semester is winding down, and I have a lot more free time, have I missed anything? Lol
Are you at UWV?
Yeah I'm at WVU's School of Business and Economics, Go EERS!

Sec. 3: "Should Scotland vote for independence from the United Kingdom and should they not join the European Union, the president shall nominate 3 diplomats to negotiate a free trade agreement with Scotland."
Mr Speaker: Legislation:
China is hereby declared a currency manipulator.
I guess we're just going to presume the Welsh won't ever make any waves.
Mr. Speakers did you see my legislation.
Tlaney: I only included those two due to the Scottish referendum in 2014 and the UK referendum on the eu scheduled for 2017
matt - just a little UK humor. No worries.
