Have you ever been mugged?
By the government, every two weeks.
Once in Mexico, once in Thailand, and once in Cambodia. I really need to quit traveling to the third world.
One morning, I was walking to the bus stop my sophomore year and as I was almost there, a man came walking towards me. He got close and asked if I had the time. I told him it was 7:10 and as he thanked me, and I began to walk away.
I got about 2 steps when he grabbed me from behind, put a big knife to my throat and said some ugly things. He began to drag me off the road towards a forestry area and told him he could have everything in my purse. As I went to reach for it...
I had the opportunity to push him backwards! I took off running to my friends house and everything turned out ok.
Did they catch the sob?
Had my banana and water stolen at the city bus stop bout 2 years ago. Was kinda weird the guy was a nut. I figured he was hungry so I just handed over the banana.
No but my house was robbed three separate times (brooklyn).
Us too. Not 3 times though! Dang! That's crazy. Once was bad enough.
And one of those times my sister and I were in the house. We ran out.
SCARY!!!! Time to move!
No. Close though. It involved a knife held to a throat. And a scream. They fled.
Whose knife and whose throat?
Three teenagers, one knife. I was walking with my then-boyfriend at night. The teens shoved us into the entrance to a closed store & put the knife to his throat. I'm sure they demanded money but I don't remember what they said. Totally unvoluntarily
I opened my mouth and screamed. The teens scattered & started to flee. A car had just stopped beside us. The couple inside had seen what happened & said "Get in; we'll take you wherever you want to go." We told them we thought we were OK, & were
only going a couple of blocks, but they insisted. We got in; they took us home; I've always been grateful to them. Two sets of total strangers; two very different interactions. The 2nd more than made up for the 1st.
Not exactly. I was accosted in my own bed once, as a child. It felt a lot like a mugging with the added bonus of never feeling truly safe in my own home again.
By whom? A stranger?
Yes. Someone broke into our home. It was a stranger. I was 9yo. I screamed when he accosted me, and he fled out my bedroom window. So nothing truly terrible happened to me that night, but my sense of safety was forever compromised.
That is scary :/ but yea, it could've been a lot worse. Thank God it wasn't.
Oh geez that sounds terrifying. I'm sorry.
That is awful! :( omg
Knocks on wood.
