Do you actually celebrate Christmas for the real reasons(family, religion, and good will towards all) or is it all about the gifts

I'm not religious so I don't do it for those reasons. I do it to be with family and give them gifts. I love giving way more than receiving.

I don't celebrate it at all if I can avoid it. We had a very traumatic death occur in my family on 12/23 a few years ago and I never got over that.

Gifts. If a person believed in Jesus, they would celebrate Christmas in April, when he would have actually been born. Christmas in December is based on a pagan holiday. So gifts is the answer :)

It is kinda messed up how the pagan holiday was turned into a Christian one, but I think it's the intent behind the celebrating that counts, not temporal inaccuracies.

Since I'm not religious I was pretty much relegated to the "give me" button (or not vote). There's another option. We don't do gifts at all. I very much dislike the commercialism of Christmas, so "give me" leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.

Does that mean you wouldn't love someone if they were Jewish?

I wasn't very nice in my comment farther above, so it's OK if you take those words back. Answer options that make me say something negative about myself - OR the poll's author, which happens all too often - are a pet peeve.

Well I did make the poll kinda quick and tbh I was taking care of my baby sis at the time that's y I didn't really have time to think of the answers and you were nice silly trust me I've been talked to worse than that lol

You are too kind. And really, I don't intend to be mean; I just get a bit frustrated. Thanks so much for being a good sport.

Burn the Yule Tide Log and pass the cloved orange.

I like the real purpose of the holiday. I can live without all the commercialism and gifts.
