Anyone else miss how Discovery and History channels used to be a legit source of educational information?

In hindsight it was incredibly optimistic to expect education off television. Not everything can be Sesame Street.

Yes, there are just too many dumb reality shows. But, they are going where the money is, in order to survive. We record a few gems that are still there.

I don't miss it because I don't have cable tv & have never watched either, but I've heard what's happened to them, so I'm voting "Yes" anyway.

Yeah I used to love the History Channel. Now all they have is Ice Road Truckers.

The wormhole, how the universe works were science channel shows.

Yes when we left earth was very good. Wish they kept that caliber of work.

Currently watching "Zombie Apocalypse" on Discovery, sad I use to turn to it for real education. Now its all about some Obese Kansas Guy saying the it's "When is happens not IF it happens." Zombies travel in groups so I'll throw a grenade".....

Yes! I am not sure they should be called Discovery or History any longer. Not all the shows on them are bad, but I missed the original format.

Absolutely. I used to enjoy watching them, and now I don't even bother turning the TV on during most days.

Don't mind me... I felt so strongly I had to emphasize my point via repetition.

Used to be my favorite channels... sad what has happened.

Definitely, Kay. Because the thousands of times I've commented and the very few I've duplicated are of great significance. :)

Voluntarist - yes! I used to love the history channel in particular. I'm a bit of a history buff, so...quite disappointed.
