Would you rather go on a two week Mediterranean cruise, or a two week African safari?
Screw a safari. I've heard Syria is the best place to currently visit in Africa
Depends will the captain flee if the boat accidentally flips over?
I don't like cruises, but compared to a safari... [shudders]
Just saw "Captain Phillips". Africa can go to hell.
Done both... In military... Safari is something I would like to do for fun. Med cruise would be a lot if shopping.
I've done both and the safari was simply amazing, and for me a more enriching experience. Tanzania is a safe place. The people are warm and welcoming. No need to be afraid. The loins were my highlight. Amazingly beautiful creatures.
You couldn't pay me to go Africa. I am terrified by wild animals.
Cruising for sure going on my fourth cruise in feb.
I've been on both and it's not even close. African Safari!
- 46 kinds of animals in 3 days
- Watched lions track antelope from porch
- Leopards drag prey into tree
- Monkeys/baboons & elephant IN lodge
- Friendly, well dressed, polite people. Felt completely safe.
- Micro lite flight over Victoria Falls
I'll pass on the aids, Mediterranean cruise here I come (just don't get to close to the coast ;-)
Um, do you tend to sleep with random people or do a lot of hard drugs on vacation? If not, I wouldn't worry about HIV.
Safari. Cruises break down or wreck a majority of the time and the cruise line dicks you out of compensation. If you die on a cruise you're eligible to get 15k. Die on a plane you get 2 million plus.
So long as there's a stop in Italy.
A safari's an adventure. I'd rather that than a boring old vacation.
Neither. Don't like cruises and Africa has no appeal, what so ever! Now if you said Africa on a poacher hunt, I might be interested! I might be fun to see how many poachers I could bag.
I hope to never go overseas again.
5 years there. One year deployed 4 stationed.
Been to Africa for work never will go there again
I can see how some people might want to go to Africa, but I'm to sceerd...
Scared of what???
Hate cruises, but love the med
I only picked the safari because I've already been to the Mediterranean twice (absolutely stunning) & I've always wanted to go on a safari.
Chose safari, but really would not want to do either.
There's an award given for great African leadership. It's been claimed like once in the last six years. It's an ANNUAL award.
I wish I was making this up
Obama didn't win it???
Africa, Mexico, Middle East....I'll visit these places when they exit the Stone Age
obviously you have never been there...
What gave it away? Was it my post that implied I hadn't? Did that give it away?
Also there are things called cameras. We can use them to see what other places are like. Amazing technology.
I recommend trying to use one...
A safari with some white water rafting on the Zambezi is my dream vacation. I hope to take it before I get too old to be able to do it!!!!
Always wanted to go on a picture safari, but always wanted to see Greece. I'd take either of them offered.
I picked the cruise. Actually I want neither.
Between the wars, diseases, revolutions, & terrorists/pirates around Africa I would take the cruise. I'd like to see Africa someday but it scares me. plus the mediterranean sounds awesome and I love cruises.
This is all assuming the cruise line is NOT Carnival! If the its a Carnival cruise I'll do Africa instead of being stuck at sea when another of their clunker ships breaks down. Lol
I've lived in several African countries, they are as safe as the US. There are the dangerous places you don't go to, just like the US. But there are plenty if safe amazing places to visit.
Safari on the condition that it's a hunting safari. Dangerous game hunting would be quite a rush, and also a good excuse to use ridiculously powerful rifles. .458 Magnum, baby!
Honestly going to Africa to support the preservation of animals for the sake of seeing them in the wild is alright to me.
God, shut up
I think a safari adventure is more fun than being stuck on a boat.
"Stuck on a boat"
Never been on a cruise I take it. This is the part where you say you have anyway. Come on....
Been there, done that awesome Med cruise several times & several itineraries. Bring on the African continent! Can't wait!
The correct answer was the cruise.
Completely your opinion.
Honestly those are two vacations I wouldn't want. I'd hate being stuck on a boat and I really have no interest getting malaria in the middle of no where Africa. European road trip, sure that sounds cool.
"Suck on a boat." You haven't got a clue what a cruise entails, do you?
I'd rather be on land and do things the things I want to do on my schedule.
I'd rather do a driving tour of Europe.
The Med is amazing and my first choice. But I realized that I might do that in my lifetime. An African Safari would be harder to afford or come by. So it's safari time!
I also say cruise because I don't want malaria.
You prepare by getting all the shots.
Not all of Africa has malaria. Just go where they don't have it.
A cruise, as long as its not a Carnival cruise.
Both are pretty bad
Either would be great! I'll take the safari though. Too cool!
Cruises are for the same annoying people who go to Jimmy Buffet concerts!
"Wasted away again in Margaritaville..."
It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had oooo ooo!
I heard this singing in my head as I read
Fortunate enough to have done both. Don't think I could choose a favorite.
Better than a 2 week safari. Lived in Botswana for 13 months. Awesome experience.
Tough one! Both are on my bucket list.
I would be scared to go to Africa.
I assume we can't shoot anything from the cruise? Safari. Definitely.
Ohio is a million times better than Africa! We have hospitals, water, and food here!
Africa doesn't have any hospitals or food at all??? Idiot
Cruises are lame. I wanna go on an adventure!
Been on a 5 day cruise n loved it. What worries me about a safari is the food. I'm just very picky. That and to me a safari is hunting. Extremely expensive and so hard to do it right. I know they have non-hunting safaris but that is a true safari.
Most people don't hunt when enjoying the wildlife. I have enjoyed many relaxing, fun and exciting trips in Africa. There you actually get to use your 4x4. Most hunters go to game farms for commercial hunting. They have some in Texas too.
Texas grown African animals, ready to hunt in a natural setting without customs issues for importing dead animal hides etc.
While growing up a safari was always hunting. That's what it will always be for me. I've known several people who have gone on hunting safaris and that was their experience.$$$$ and hard to do right. The other is done daily at most any zoo
I will say that it is different peeing in the wild, trying to stay close to your vehicle while others keep watch. Living on the edge can be really fun ;-)
Sounds like it could be fun but I'm not getting any younger or peein any faster. Glad you've had the opportunity . Not many ever will.: )
I've already been on a cruise, so I think a safari would be a fun change of pace... Just hope I don't get devoured by lions...
