Okay, followers, you get to make a decision for me. I've had my hair before Bootcamp, and it's either I leave as is it get it cut shorter (think long buzzcut). View the link if you will, and let me know.
I voted to leave it alone until I clicked on the link. I didn't think it could be that bad. It is. Sorry! Definitely go for the pixie look that someone below mentioned. You could totally pull it off! But at least get those sides trimmed up.
As the mom whose going to have my own daughter cutting it for the same reason in about 8 months do what seems comfortable and easy. I wonder what it lots like wet (sweaty) and stuck to you...it will grow back.
I would just go really short. You've got great hair for a .. Pixie kinda look..that's what we use to call it. Very short around ears and nape of neck and leave it what it is on the top. That way when you get liberty some gel and go..cute
I wouldn't G.I. Jane it.. I would be afraid that they would pick on you more, you do not want the D I to single you out. Even though everybody has their "shit on" day I've heard.
Kris, that's good had a nephew go through Parris Island 6 years ago, he met two girls who did the G.I. Jane no-hair cut. DI were hard on them.

From what my military buddy's say, when going into boot camp you want them to be able to cut it, otherwise they don't like that. They feel it's a way for them to tear you down a little more before they build you back up.
It's a bit different being a female. It takes longer to cut our hair (since they just go to the collar) and if I go in how I had it, they'd cut it long enough it hung in my face but too short to put up to keep it out, thus, I'm cutting before.
I'm in with this thread. Your current hair is fine and not radical - if you come in with the "long buzz", it will target you for "extra attention" that you really don't want...
