Do you have what it takes to be a high school teacher?
I would say yes, I have what it takes. I teach AP classes and I have the highest AP test scores in a district with 6 high schools. I am also the defensive coordinator for our varsity football team.
God no, I hate teenagers.
I do too, but unfortunately I am one.
I know that feel.
Only if I want to hate my life.
Not the knowledge and certainly not the patience
I'm probably smarter than most my teachers.
Being smarter than someone who does teach doesn't mean you would be able to. It takes an incredible amount of dedication and a specific skill that very few have (even though many think they do have it).
That may be what it takes to be a great teacher. Very few teachers have what it takes to be a great teacher, that being said, I have what it takes to be a great teacher.
I'd say I do. I don't plan on doing it, though.
No I don't, I'd get fired for smacking the shit out of some kid.
Being a cosmetology instructor is pretty much the same thing. Most of my students have been right out of high school or close to it. I think I'd be ok.
I hope so.
What are you planning on teaching?
For anyone that's interested, there is a book called Stories From A Teacher, a collection of stories from the authors four years of teaching. Could make you reconsider teaching....
I often wish I'd started writing down stories from the get go. I think I could make mucho dinero from a book called "Things I've Overheard in My Classroom"
It's never too late to start! I'll be your first customer. :)
Lol - I just might. Most the these stories are made better by the simple fact they are said by students at an all-girls, catholic school
Yesterday, I heard someone say that anyone could be a teacher. I found it to be hilarious.
Emily - are you the one K keeps referring about lately?
Hmm... Not sure. What has he been saying?
Oh dear. I thought it was about you. He keeps wringing about his beautiful butterfly in my poll a few days ago. He made similar comments in other polls. Thought it was you:(. Are you still visiting?
Nope... Not me.
Plans are up in the air. There is a SOH gathering in SF the only weekend that we are both free, and we might go there instead... If not, the trip will just be postponed until a later date.
I thought u talk to him every day? Wouldn't he tell u about his butterfly? Did u see my poll
We do talk every day. I'm not sure why he wouldn't have.
I did see your poll, yes. I guess I got to it before he commented.
Its not "h" right?
No, she has a boyfriend.
Let me ask you. If you "kik" someone and the D is still there - is possible that they never received it or are they just ignoring you?
Light "D" means their phone has received the message, but they haven't read it or opened the message sense.
Bold "D" means they have opened the app and seen the notification and not read it.
Both are possible... It's a sketchy app at times.
I have no luck with that. Two people I have dealt with didn't anymore. Left me hanging :(
Is it possible that a "1" motivation on the app didn't show and so they didn't open it. When people say the never received it it is not the same as not getting message at all or just notification?
If you try to open a message from the NC, the message won't appear in the app at all.
The question is could I handle middle schoolers. I can handle high schoolers. I'd like to stay out of jail, so I could not choose middle school.
Middle School students are hilarious, though.
Yeah, they were pretty funny. They're awkward sometimes, too. I've always said that if I taught, I would have to teach high school because I could relate better. I can't remember the hell years too well, but high school was amazinf
The hilarity is usually created by their awkwardness.
Lol - I'd say yes, since this is my 5th year as one.
The number of yes votes is comical.
Cracks me up - so not true of most.
" I just stand up and talk some, then go home when the bell rings. What's the big deal?"
Oh, totally. Easy peasy.
It's polls like this that show why our education system is so messed up.
And why so many teachers quit in their first few years.
Bingo. Its so frustrating when people who know nothing about education try to tell me how to teach. And even worse when our laws are dictated by those with zero experience as anything but a student - often decades ago.
Fully certified. Just waiting for an opening at a school I want to teach at. Currently teaching middle school with colleagues I get along great with.
What aspect of it? I'd need to go to college and study but as far as "role model" type, yeah
I think I can say "How do I teeach these keeds." enough to be a great one.
