Today is the 1-year birthday/anniversary since I stumbled across the SoH community. It's been a great learning experience, while also being a hilarious place to do some online 'people-watching.' What do you enjoy most about the app?
This is the ONLY place where I can have a conversation with scientists, teachers, country folk, and other people who I'd never meet in my line of work or private life. I'm a blue collar uneducated guy from the city & suburbia. I wouldn't meet these
people in my social circles. And they do educate me from time to time. So that's the definite upside and cool aspect of this experience.
It's exemplary of the new type of community that's emerging in the modern age.
I love reading the comments - funny ones - serious ones - people watching without staring.
The users, definitely the users ..also learning about my convictions as well as others'.
The sense of community. People truly care for other people they have never met! It's kind of weird, but good at the same time.
It's great to communicate with a bunch of great people.
I like that I can now dislike stupid questions :)
I love the community, and how (mostly) everyone is respectful when arguing their side. I love hearing from people with different ideals from what I have and bring up points I didn't see prior, it's opened my mind significantly. Thank you all.
Observations and expert opinions about things I'd never have known about otherwise. Meeting new friends an unexpected, but very welcome bonus.
The links to websites/articles/opinions to things I would have never seen otherwise. I really love the variety that is given by the community.
For sure... the ability to add links in 2.0 was an awesome idea!
Most every one is professional and know about the case they argue. I don't get that in highschool very often.
I like being able to argue in the comments about religion and hockey.
The great people.
conversation with many different view points.
I'm surprised to find that I was here so much before you. I did a lot of vote-and-run early on, so maybe by the time I started reading/writing comments, you had arrived on the scene.
I'm glad you found it :-) we're about one month from mine,
Awesome sauce! Glad you're here, too :)
I love the quality debates and getting to know cool people like you
I love my bitches
Is that what you think of me? :P
Congrats on your one-year SoHiversary! :)
Well, there's very little I don't love about SoH. I enjoy seeing the positions that others hold, and when they're expressed in a respectful manner - it's even greater to read. It has helped me build an
understanding as to why these individuals believe what they do. It has opened my mind to a number of things which I shut-out in the past. Most importantly... I've met some of the most incredible people. There are quite a few individuals that I care
very, very much for. Show of hands means more to me than anyone could possibly understand, but I'll just say - I love it. <3 :)
Helps me understand how people think.
Watching people argue in the comment section.
The ping-pong matches are indeed fun unless they get too personal
The exchange of ideas and perspectives. I've learned a lot.
The variety of people and opinions. Friends from all over the place.
I got it before it was a community. Back in the day there weren't even comment threads! Since then I've been here for every update and it's awesome to see what it's grown into. Tony's doing an excellent job running it!
The same year my third year is coming up real soon.
I just passed three years and that seems so long ago! So many updates since then.
I love the little tiffs people get in to. Lol
It makes me research things I find interesting or unbelievable. It's very capable of showing intelligence as well as some major ignorance!! "People-watching" is a very interesting way of putting it.
I like the heated debates I have, the friends and acquaintances I've made.
This is the only place where I'm allowed to speak my mind politically.
The community and the insight ^_^
I like the discussions, varying opinions and the education SOH provides.
Hearing a lot of different opinions from a diverse and interesting group if people. And getting intelligent (most of the time) feedback on my ideas about things.
I like exposing myself to new ideas and challenging my own beliefs (if they're with holding, they're worth questioning).
^in this respect, SOH members have stepped up admirably.
I almost stopped reading after " I like exposing myself ... "
What?!? You don't SOH naked?
I enjoy the people that come here for the learning experience and take part in some hilarious online people watching.
Proving people wrong.
Ooooohhhhh.... don't leave us hanging!
I like the opportunity for debate.
Also, I'll admit that I find the trolls pretty funny.
The community of course! Sure there may be a few non-stop trolls, but for the most part the positive and intelligent community thrives.
I love learning from you guys; y'all have made and are continuing to make me better.
There are a lot of people that I've grown to care a whole lot about. I'm glad I've had the opportunity to get to know so many great people.
You are too freaking precious!
:) well thank you! :D
Hey, you.. Yeah, you!
Love you, Hayley. :)
I love you too Kyle!
Anyone know what these cliques are that some people have not been appreciating?
I think that may have died down a bit, but admittedly; I haven't been all that active here the past few weeks
I like to argue .
You do it tactfully, though. Stellar user, IMO!
Thank you, and you likewise.
Good to see you Doopy!
I like the what he's trying to do with the OnAir aspect, which is why I've been as involved with it as I have. I've met some great people here, and the show has made is easy to meet some of them face to face, even if not in person.
Wow Wolfe, no explanation?
I'm better than that sir.
You know what!
I would've at least gave you a reason.
No clue, seriously! 0-o
No, change it back "friend".
Are you talking about whom I follow? Did you miss the beta discussion a long time ago when I said I rotate to keep my number low?
Or it is something else? I'm stumped!
I mean this sincerely, I wish you and your family the best in the future.
I've also done that, but there's a short list of "untouchables". Your still on it, but I'd prefer it if you'd leave me unfollowed.
It's a matter of principal.
The community and brain stimulation coming from varied questions and discussions.
+1. I've had many discussions here that have made me reexamine my own views
Yes, it different every day. I learn, I laugh, I comment with a certain amount of anonymity and it helps me get through some tough times right now.
As anonymous as I am, I am not anonymous. Which is ironically funny.
I like the Kindo/Longhorn back and forth nonsense. Always gets a chuckle :P
Gonna miss you, young 'un!
Still time to change your mind! ;)
I like the choice for total anonymity, but I love that I feel like I have some buddies on here.
Good point... for the folks that have complained about cliques & lack of anonymity since 2.0, I'd remind them that the app is still set of for a user to be as anonymous as they'd like to be
I was originally incredibly drawn to the anonymous spirit of the app, but what I've enjoyed most is actually getting to know many of you on a more personal, almost tangible level. Lots of good peeps here :-)
I like the comment section and the freedom tony allows us to express ourselves.
Side note- I upgraded yesterday so my polls won't close in an hour anymore lol
You, sir, are a gentleman & a scholar!
Side-note: I haven't been able to find anyone recently on here with a higher agreement % than you have with me. You're good sht, Abo ;-)
I agree with Abolitionist 48% of the time and MrWolfe 57% of the time. Interesting.
And yer 58% with me..The atheist..
Surprising I might say. :)
I just noticed that Wolfe, idk if I found a higher agreement neither. And a scholar? Great compliment from you because you have a pretty independent mind so I know that's an unbiased opinion. LOL thanks. I've always respected your opinion
